About The Program

The Embedded Systems Engineer Apprenticeship Program is designed for aspiring engineers who want to develop the skills required to build intelligent electronic systems that combine hardware, firmware, and software.


Through hands-on training and industry-oriented projects, participants will learn how embedded systems are developed—from understanding electronics and PCB design, writing embedded firmware, working with Embedded Linux, to connecting devices through IoT technologies.


This programme prepares participants to support the development, integration, and optimisation of embedded solutions used across industries such as electronics, IoT, automation, and semiconductor.


Program Structure


The programme consists of 1 month of intensive technical training followed by 3 months of On-the-Job Training (OJT) with a company.


During the training phase at ASEM, Cyberjaya, you will gain practical exposure to:

Hardware Foundation

  • Electronics Instrumentation and Measurement
  • Signal Conditioning with Operational Amplifiers
  • Practical Layout and Routing of Mixed-Signal PCBs

Firmware Development

  • C Programming for Engineers
  • Embedded C Workshop
  • Efficient Implementation of DSP Algorithms with C

Embedded Connectivity

  • Introduction to Linux – Command Line Power
  • Bluetooth Low Energy Communication with Embedded Linux
  • IoT Communication Protocols and Data Formats

Application Development

  • Data Storage and Access with MySQL and PHP
  • Developing Realtime, Interactive Webpages


During the OJT phase , you will work alongside experienced engineers, applying your technical knowledge to real development projects while gaining valuable industry experience.


Responsibilities

As an Embedded Systems Apprentice, you will:

  • Assist in developing and integrating embedded systems combining hardware and firmware.
  • Support hardware bring-up, debugging, and system-level testing.
  • Develop and modify embedded firmware for electronic devices.
  • Perform testing and troubleshooting of embedded solutions.
  • Work with engineers to integrate sensors, communication modules, and peripherals.
  • Support documentation and improvement of embedded system designs.

  • Hold or are pursuing a Diploma, Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related disciplines.
  • Have basic knowledge of C Programming and Linux fundamentals.

  • Are passionate about embedded systems, firmware development, and connected technologies.
  • Are eager to learn through hands-on projects and industry-oriented training.
  • Able to commit to the full training and OJT duration
