At Trackting, we are transforming vehicle security by building smart IoT and triple-satellite GPS anti-theft systems. We design intelligent, ultra-low-power devices that safeguard cars, motorcycles, and e-bikes for thousands of users globally.

We are a product-driven company. Joining us means moving away from being a small cog in a giant corporate wheel. You will have a direct impact on the core architecture of physical products that protect valuable assets in real time.

The Role & What You'll Do

We are looking for a Firmware Engineer to take technical ownership of our next generation of connected devices. You will drive the development of highly optimized software running on ultra-low-power microcontrollers, working closely with our hardware and cloud infrastructure teams.

  • Take Ownership: Architect, design, and maintain core C firmware for intelligent asset trackers.
  • Optimize Everything: Develop micro-optimizations for battery performance, making our devices run for months on a single charge.
  • Connect Systems: Implement robust protocol stacks to keep devices seamlessly communicating across global cellular networks and BLE.
  • Test & Debug: Validate firmware stability directly on the hardware target to guarantee 99.9% uptime for theft alerts.
What We Are Looking For
  • Experience: At least 3 years of hands-on experience in firmware development using C on microcontrollers.
  • OS Expertise: Solid experience working with Zephyr OS, specifically optimized for Nordic Semiconductor MCUs.
  • Low-Level & RTOS: Proficient in bare-metal programming as well as RTOS concepts.
  • Peripherals & Wireless: Proven track record handling MCU peripherals and general wireless protocols.
  • Networking: Strong familiarity with TCP/IP application protocols like TCP, HTTP, and MQTT.
  • Language Skills: Native-level fluency in Italian is mandatory. Conversational English (at least B1) is required to parse technical documentation and data sheets.
Nice-to-haves (Pluses):
  • Prior experience with Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE).
  • Familiarity with cellular modules (GSM) and location systems (GPS/Galileo/Glonass).
Location, Visa, & Onboarding Requirements
  • Location: Our engineering office is based in Rome EUR.
  • Onboarding: You must be available to work on-site in Rome during the initial onboarding and ramp-up period to tightly collaborate with our hardware team.
  • Remote/Hybrid: Following successful onboarding, you will transition to a flexible hybrid work model.
  • Visa Notice: Trackting cannot offer visa sponsorship at this time. You must currently hold a permanent legal right to work in Italy to be considered. Applications requiring visa or relocation sponsorship will be automatically filtered out.
What We Offer
  • Competitive salary ranging between €33k and €38k RAL, scaled to match your actual expertise and engineering depth.
  • A true hybrid work structure following your training period.
  • The rare opportunity to take actual technical ownership of an physical IoT ecosystem that impacts real lives daily.
