We are seeking a Senior ECAD PCB Design Engineer to support advanced defense and aerospace electronics development by designing complex, high-speed printed circuit boards using Xpedition VX, PCB layout best practices, and high-reliability design standards. This role is ideal for an experienced Electrical CAD (ECAD) Designer with expertise in DDR4/DDR5, RF, digital signal processing (DSP), high-speed routing, PCB fabrication, and multi-layer board design supporting mission-critical hardware programs.
Responsibilities:
- Create, revise, and maintain complex printed circuit board (PCB) layouts, engineering drawings, and Bills of Material (BOMs) using ECAD software.
- Design high-speed, high-density PCB layouts supporting digital signal processing (DSP), RF, and mixed-signal electronic systems.
- Develop PCB layouts that meet electrical, mechanical, manufacturability, and reliability requirements.
- Perform component placement, signal routing, impedance control, constraint management, and electronic packaging for complex PCB assemblies.
- Generate manufacturing documentation, fabrication drawings, assembly drawings, and engineering release packages.
- Collaborate with electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, manufacturing teams, and Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Optimize PCB designs for signal integrity, electromagnetic interference (EMI), manufacturability, and high-speed performance.
- Troubleshoot PCB design data, documentation, configuration, and manufacturing issues with internal teams and external vendors.
- Support continuous process improvement initiatives to enhance ECAD design quality, efficiency, and product reliability.
- Independently analyze technical challenges and implement practical design solutions while managing multiple concurrent projects.
Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field (or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience) plus 8+ years of related experience; OR
- Master's degree in a related field with 6+ years of relevant experience.
- Extensive experience designing complex printed circuit boards using ECAD design tools.
- Experience with Siemens Xpedition VX 2.13 or newer.
- Strong understanding of PCB layout, fabrication processes, assembly documentation, and manufacturing requirements.
- Experience designing multi-layer PCBs up to 28 layers.
- Experience with:
- High-speed digital PCB design
- Digital Signal Processing (DSP) circuitry
- High-frequency RF designs
- Signal integrity
- High-speed routing techniques
- EMI/interference mitigation
- Experience generating PCB layouts, electronic packaging, fabrication drawings, assembly drawings, and engineering documentation.
- Experience troubleshooting PCB design files, manufacturing data, and vendor configuration issues.
- Experience working within cross-functional Integrated Product Teams (IPTs).
- Ability to manage multiple PCB design efforts simultaneously in a fast-paced engineering environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience designing boards utilizing DDR4, DDR5, AMD/Xilinx Versal devices, and other high-speed interfaces.
- Experience managing high-speed design constraints and timing requirements.
- Experience supporting MIL-SPEC, aerospace, defense, or space-qualified electronics.
- Experience designing high-reliability PCB hardware for military or space applications.
