The Robotics & Automation Engineer will be part of AMRT Robotics Team responsible for the development, industrialization, and support for advanced robotics processes & systems for the Gas Power business globally. She/he will develop industrial robotic and automation systems, implement them in GE facilities, and provide on-going technical support.

Essential Functions
:

The focus for this role is to lead to identify and develop industrial robotic and automated applications
-
Develop robot simulation models and off-line programs
-
Maintain an in-depth knowledge of the robots and associated process equipment
-
Provide technical support to robot operators, engineers, and technical workers through system troubleshooting and diagnostics

Train operators and engineers in robot programming, maintenance, and process applications

Be responsible for establishing maintenance and PM plans through the industrialization process for the global network

Implement lean methodologies and tools in the identification, development, and industrialization of robotics and automation in processes for the global network

Provide continuous improvement support and seek out opportunities to improve robotics and automation across the new unit and services network

Collaborate with supply chain, component team, productivity, and other GE organizations to identify opportunities for projects and improvement within the supply chain network

Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures

Monitor and communicate project status, business issues, and significant developments
Basic Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics from an accredited college or university

At least 6 additional years of experience in an engineering position
Desired Characteristics
-
Hands on experience in robot operations, sensors, servo systems and motion control systems

Programming experience in FANUC and off-line robot programming and simulation with RoboGuide.

Basic understanding of robotic concepts and systems, including vision systems and kinematics.

Basic experience with CAD software.

Basic experience with ROS (Robot Operating System), Linux, Git, and Docker.

Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, C++, or Java.

Preferably process knowledge in one or more disciplines – Thermal spray coating, welding, surface finishing, sealing, machining, etc…

Ability and willingness to travel a minimum 10% of the time, as required

Able to demonstrate experience in project management and hands on trials

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
