ASEM (Advanced Semiconductor Academy of Malaysia) is a national initiative under the Malaysia IC Design Park, aligned with the National Semiconductor Strategy and led by the Ministry of Economy with strong support from the Selangor State Government and SIDEC. Its mission is to help move Malaysia’s semiconductor industry from “Made in Malaysia” to “Made by Malaysia” by expanding original design manufacturing and local participation in product design, prototyping, and production. ASEM provides access to EDA tools, testing infrastructure, IP resources, MPW services, talent development programs, and the Selangor Semiconductor Fund.


Through partnerships with more than 10 international institutions and over 25 local universities, as well as over 150 industry partners and key foundries, ASEM supports advanced training, research collaboration, and robust talent mobility. This ecosystem offers emerging semiconductor professionals a platform to gain hands-on experience and connect with global and domestic leaders in the field.

📍 Training Location: Shenzhen, China (1-Month International Training Experience)

🕒 Duration: 1 Month Overseas Training + 3 Months On-the-Job Training (OJT), followed by potential full-time placement

About the Program

The Global Semiconductor Exchange Program (GSEP) – Analog IC Design Verification Engineer Apprenticeship Program is designed for students and graduates who are interested in ensuring the correctness, performance, and reliability of analog integrated circuit designs.

Hosted at Shenzhen Institute of Information Technology (SZIIT), China, this program bridges analog circuit design with verification methodologies, allowing participants to understand how designs are validated before fabrication.


Program Structure

During the 1-month International Training in Shenzhen, China, you'll gain practical exposure to: -

• Fundamentals of analog IC design and circuit behavior

• Simulation-based verification techniques

• Circuit analysis for performance validation

• IC design flow from schematic to layout

• Semiconductor laboratory exposure

• International collaborative learning environment

• Semiconductor lab exposure and engineering environment

In the following 3 months, you'll gain hands-on industry experience through an on-the-job training (OJT) placement.


Responsibilities

Participants will gain exposure to topics including the following:

• Functional verification of analog circuits and building blocks

• Simulation setup, execution, and debugging

• Analysis of circuit performance (gain, bandwidth, stability, etc.)

• Supporting post-layout verification processes

• Identifying design issues and proposing improvements

• Working with design and layout teams for validation tasks

• Assisting in documentation of verification results


Who We're Looking For

• Fresh graduates or final-year students in:

- Electrical & Electronics Engineering

- Mechatronics Engineering

- Computer Engineering

- Biomedical Engineering

- Physics

- Electronic Science and Technology

- Communication Engineering

- Microelectronics Science and Engineering

- Electronic Information Science and Technology

- or other related disciplines

• Strong interest in semiconductor technology and Analog IC Design

• Basic understanding of circuit analysis and semiconductor fundamentals is advantageous

• Eagerness to learn through practical, hands-on engineering activities

• Willingness to participate in the overseas training and subsequent OJT program
