Key Responsibilities
Core Firmware Development
-
Develop, test, and optimize firmware for Zigbee-based devices (end devices, routers, coordinators).

Implement Zigbee clusters (e.g., On/Off, Level Control, Scenes, IAS, Metering, Lighting).
-
Handle device provisioning, joining/leaving networks, binding/unbinding, reporting, and ZCL attribute handling.
-
Work with TI, Nordic, Silicon Labs, or similar Zigbee chipsets/SDKs (EFR32, CC2652, nRF52840, etc.).
Protocol & Stack-Level Work
-
Integrate and customize the Zigbee Stack (Z-Stack, EmberZNet, ZBOSS, etc.).

Work on ZCL, APS, NWK, MAC layersâdebugging packet flow end-to-end.
-
Deep understanding of Zigbee 3.0 security, commissioning modes, and interoperability requirements.
Hardware Bring-Up

Work closely with hardware teams for board bring-up, pinmux configuration, bootloaders, OTA DFU, timers, ADC, UART/SPI/I2C.

Validate RF performance and coordinate with RF and testing teams.
Testing, Debugging & Validation
-
Use tools like Ubiqua, Ember Desktop, Silicon Labs Simplicity Studio, logic analyzers, oscilloscopes.

Perform protocol sniffing, interoperability testing, and network stress testing.
Documentation & Compliance
-
Write firmware documentation, release notes, and integration guides.

Ensure Zigbee 3.0 compliance and certification readiness.
Cross-Team Collaboration
-
Work with QA, hardware, mobile app, and cloud teams to ensure smooth integration of IoT solutions.

Participate in sprint planning, design reviews, and architecture discussions.
Required Skills
-
Strong C/C++ embedded programming (no Arduino-level skills).

Hands-on experience with Zigbee 3.0 stack development and ZCL implementation.

Practical exposure to at least one major Zigbee chipset family (EFR32/Ember, CC26xx, nRF52).

Experience with FreeRTOS or similar RTOS for embedded systems.

Strong debugging skills using JTAG, SWD, RF sniffers, and protocol analyzers.

Experience with OTA updates, memory optimization, concurrency, and power optimization.
Good to Have
-
Experience with other home automation protocols (Z-Wave, BLE Mesh, Thread, Matter).

Knowledge of MQTT, gateways, RS485, KNX.
-
Experience in production firmware handling 10K+ device scale.
-
Familiarity with mobile app integration flows and cloud communication pipelines.
