Job Description

Join our R&D team and help shape the next generation of wireless communication technologies for Smart Cities and Smart Water Infrastructure.

At ST Engineering Telematics Wireless, you'll design cutting-edge RF solutions powering millions of IoT devices worldwide.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic Senior RF Engineer to join our R&D development team. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in designing and evolving our communication hardware, supporting robust proprietary networks while driving the adoption of modern wireless technologies such as LoRa and Cellular NB-IoT/Cat-M. This is a hands-on technical role requiring deep RF expertise and full ownership of the RF product lifecycle within the smart metering and IoT domains.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop advanced RF systems operating in Sub-GHz and cellular frequency bands.
  • Perform RF circuit and antenna simulations, optimization, and validation.
  • Collaborate closely with external PCB layout designers to ensure optimal RF routing.
  • Conduct RF testing, integration, debugging, and troubleshooting of complex RF circuits.
  • Take full ownership of RF regulatory compliance (FCC, CE, etc.), including preparation, laboratory support, and product certification.
  • Work closely with internal R&D teams (Hardware, Firmware and System) as well as external vendors and subcontractors.

Technical Requirements

  • B.Sc. in Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
  • 10+ years of proven experience in RF development.
  • Proven experience in RF design at relevant frequencies and proficiency with RF simulation tools.
  • Hands-on experience using RF measurement equipment, including Spectrum Analyzer and Network Analyzer.
  • Strong background in Ultra-Low Power RF design for battery-operated IoT and smart metering devices.
  • Hands-on experience with modern RF SoCs, transceivers, cellular modules, and the design of matching networks, power amplifiers (PAs), low-noise amplifiers (LNAs), and RF filters.
  • Experience leading RF products from concept through mass production, including Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and defining RF testing fixtures and procedures.
  • Experience in antenna design and characterization - significant advantage.
  • Proven experience leading FCC and CE compliance testing.

Soft Skills

  • Excellent interpersonal communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to bridge legacy systems and modern technologies.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities with a system-level perspective on RF integration within IoT and telematics products.
  • High level of initiative, independence, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while leading the technical direction of the RF domain.
  • Mentorship mindset with the ability to guide engineering technicians, share knowledge, and elevate the team's technical capabilities.
  • High-level English (written and spoken) for technical documentation, certification activities with international laboratories, and supporting global field engineers and partners in resolving complex technical issues.
