About the Role

Key responsibilities include providing guidance to design teams regarding technical specifications of software/firmware design, especially considering international standards, practices, and certification.

Responsibilities

• Providing guidance to technical design teams regarding evaluation, testing practices and methods and coding.
• Implementation of sound and advanced engineering practices.
• Organise and chair design reviews.
• Firmware Requirement Specifications and Interface Control Specifications.
• Specialist knowledge regarding selection and application of hardware devices applicable to Firmware.
• Mentoring and training of junior technical personnel.
• Provides inputs to management regarding future software requirements and needs.
• Assist in the generation of a technology horizon plan that includes resources and software development tools.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 10 years’ experience in the FPGA/Microcontroller Firmware Development.
• Knowledge of software/firmware system/subsystem design with application in the precision guided munition domain.
• DO254 Firmware Development Standards.
• Electronic/Software Eng. degree. (Batchelor, Honours, Masters is an advantage.)

• Demonstrate advanced skill and experience regarding software/firmware principles and system design.
• Communication skill level that is clear, ensure cohesion and advance enthusiasm amongst team members, management and customers.
• Knowledge of best practices, engineering standards and development methodologies applicable in the defence industry.
• Demonstrate the ability to take ownership and responsibility for short term operations.
• Should be able to assist in longer term planning for the expansion of technical ability.
• Thorough understanding of the systems engineering process (Requirements, analysis, design, integration, verification, certification and configuration management.)

Preferred Skills

• Experience in the defence industry.
• Advanced knowledge of firmware development standards.
