We're working with a global leader in high-precision industrial automation and responsive control software on this exciting opportunity. This is a rare chance to bridge the gap between Senior and Lead Engineer, spearheading the development of extremely precise systems that power the next generation of industrial innovation.

If you are a C/C++ expert ready to move into a leadership-oriented role while staying hands-on with cutting-edge Bare-Metal and RTOS platforms, this is the career-defining move you've been looking for. You will join a high-performing team in Cambridgeshire to innovate the next generation of concepts and maintain their status as a global market leader.

The Role

  • Lead a cross-functional team of hardware and software engineers through the full software development life cycle (SDLC) for high-performance control systems.
  • Design, develop, and optimize critical firmware and software for execution on Bare-Metal processors and Embedded Linux/RTOS platforms.
  • Drive innovation by researching and defining requirements for next-generation automated systems.
  • Ensure system reliability through rigorous testing and optimization of high-precision control algorithms.
  • Collaborate directly with hardware teams to interpret schematics and ensure seamless hardware-software integration.

What You'll Need

  • Extensive professional experience in Firmware development using High-Performance C and C++.
  • Deep expertise with Bare-Metal development and Embedded Linux or RTOS (Real-Time Operating Systems) environments.
  • Strong technical proficiency in communication protocols including TCP/UDP, SPI, I2C, CAN bus, and RS232.
  • Hands-on experience with ARM Cortex platforms and a solid understanding of electronics schematics.
  • Familiarity with modern embedded trends such as Embedded Security or prototyping languages like Rust, Python, or C#.

What's On Offer

  • Competitive salary of £60,000 - £70,000 based on experience.
  • Direct pathway to Lead Engineer status with mentorship and team leadership responsibilities.
  • The opportunity to work on globally recognized, high-precision technology used in advanced industrial automation.
  • A collaborative and technically stimulating on-site environment in the heart of Cambridgeshire's tech hub.
