About Analytic Systems
Analytic Systems designs and manufactures DC-DC converters, battery chargers, inverters, and ruggedized power conversion equipment for marine, industrial, and military customers worldwide. Production takes place in our ISO 9001:2015 registered, Controlled Goods Program (CGP) certified facility in Delta, B.C. Our engineering team works across the full product lifecycle: from schematic design and firmware development through design verification, compliance testing, and production support.
Position Summary
The Power Electronics Engineering Technologist supports product development and production for Analytic Systems' line of power conversion equipment. The role spans three principal areas: coordinating and conducting compliance testing (environmental, safety, and EMC) at both external laboratories and internal facilities; executing Design Verification Testing (DVT) on power electronics prototypes; and developing, documenting, and supporting production test processes. The successful candidate will work closely with engineering staff, external test laboratories, and production personnel to ensure that products meet applicable standards prior to release.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Compliance and External Laboratory Testing
-
Plan and coordinate environmental, electrical safety, and EMC test campaigns at accredited external laboratories, including scheduling, sample preparation, shipping, and pre-test documentation.
-
Serve as the technical point of contact with external labs; review test plans and ensure that the unit under test, test configurations, and test modes align with the applicable standards (e.g., MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-810, CSA C22.2 No. 107.1-16, CISPR 11).
-
Track test results against pass/fail criteria; document deviations, coordinate re-tests, and communicate outcomes to the engineering team and quality system.
-
Maintain records of lab correspondence, test reports, and compliance evidence in the engineering document management system.
Design Verification Testing (DVT)
-
Develop and execute DVT test plans for power conversion products including DC-DC converters, battery chargers, and inverters, covering electrical performance, thermal, environmental, and EMC parameters.
-
Operate bench test equipment: oscilloscopes, electronic loads, power analyzers, network analyzers, LCR meters, environmental chambers, and EMC pre-compliance instrumentation.
-
Conduct in-house environmental tests (temperature cycling, humidity, vibration) and EMC pre-compliance assessments to identify design deficiencies before formal laboratory submissions.
-
Document test configurations, raw data, anomalies, and findings in engineering test reports; present results to the design engineering team with clear, actionable observations.
-
Collaborate with hardware designers and firmware engineers to reproduce failure modes, characterize deviations, and confirm corrective actions.
Production Test Documentation and Support
-
Author production test procedures for new and revised products, specifying test equipment, setup, acceptance limits, and go/no-go criteria in a format suitable for production floor use.
-
Develop test fixture requirements and, where applicable, coordinate fixture design and fabrication with the engineering team.
-
Train production test technicians on new test procedures and equipment; provide ongoing technical guidance to maintain test quality and throughput.
-
Perform hands-on production testing as required during product ramp or to address production floor issues.
-
Review production test data for trends; escalate systematic failures to engineering and recommend procedural or design corrective actions.
Qualifications
Required
-
Diploma or degree in Electronics Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related discipline.
-
Practical experience testing power electronics (converters, chargers, inverters, or similar) in a laboratory or production environment.
-
Proficiency with standard bench test instruments: oscilloscopes, electronic loads, power supplies, DMMs, and power analyzers.
-
Ability to read and interpret schematics, assembly drawings, and engineering specifications.
-
Experience writing clear technical documents: test procedures, test reports, or equivalent.
-
Strong attention to measurement accuracy, data integrity, and documentation discipline.
Preferred
-
Direct experience coordinating or conducting EMC testing per MIL-STD-461, CISPR 11, or equivalent.
-
Familiarity with environmental test methods per MIL-STD-810 or equivalent (temperature, humidity, shock, vibration).
-
Knowledge of electrical safety standards applicable to power conversion equipment (CSA C22.2 No. 107.1-16, UL, or CE).
-
Experience with pre-compliance EMC measurement setups (near-field probing, LISN, spectrum analyzer).
-
Exposure to military or defense market products and related compliance frameworks.
-
Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015 quality management systems and controlled document practices.
Working Conditions
The position is based at Analytic Systems' facility in Delta, B.C., with occasional travel to external test laboratories. The work environment includes a laboratory and production floor setting. Handling of energized power electronics is required; all work is conducted in accordance with applicable safety procedures. Scheduled Monday to Friday, full-time, with occasional flexibility required to align with external laboratory bookings.
