Role Description The OpenWrt Embedded Linux Engineer will work full time on-site at the Axitech office in Ahmedabad, India. In this role, the engineer will design, develop, and maintain OpenWrt-based firmware for industrial networking devices, including Ethernet switches, I/O controllers, and RF/LTE products. Day-to-day tasks include building and customizing Linux kernels, integrating drivers and packages, configuring system services, and optimizing performance and reliability. The role involves troubleshooting system-level issues, profiling resource usage, and collaborating with hardware, QA, and product teams to deliver stable releases. The engineer will also contribute to documentation, participate in code reviews, and support production and field teams with technical analysis and issue resolution.

Qualifications

• Strong troubleshooting skills for embedded systems, networking issues, and performance bottlenecks.
• Hands-on experience with Linux System Administration and general System Administration in embedded or server environments.
• Practical knowledge of the Linux Kernel, including configuration, compilation, driver integration, and kernel-level debugging.
• Understanding of infrastructure concepts related to networking, industrial communication, and secure remote management.
• Experience with OpenWrt or similar embedded Linux distributions (e.g., Yocto, Buildroot) and cross-compilation toolchains.
• Proficiency in C/C++ for embedded development; scripting skills in Shell, Python, or similar languages.
• Familiarity with Ethernet, TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, VPN, and LTE/RF communication protocols is highly beneficial.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams, follow secure coding practices, and produce clear technical documentation.
