Position: Junior Hardware Engineer

Mode: In-Office

Type: Full-time

Opportunity Status: Immediate

Office Location: Bangalore, Cureous

Company Overview

Cureous Labs is a medical technology startup, spin-off from AIIMS New Delhi, pioneering India’s first intelligent patient repositioning system, Eturnal™. Our mission is to transform patient care and reduce the burden on healthcare workers through innovative, human-centered technologies. Backed by BIRAC, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and leading angels, Cureous Labs is scaling its go-to-market rapidly with a mission to deploy 100+ units in the next quarter.

Position Overview

We are looking for a hands-on Junior Hardware Engineer who can support PCB design, component selection, prototyping, testing, debugging, repairs, and service-related technical activities.

This is a practical engineering role, not just a desk-based design role. You will work closely with the hardware, software, mechanical, manufacturing, service, and operations teams to build, test, improve, and support real medical devices used in hospitals and patient-care environments.

Key Responsibilities

🔌 Hardware Design & PCB Development

• Design and modify PCBs based on product and prototype requirements

• Create schematics, PCB layouts, BOMs, and basic hardware documentation

• Support design iterations for new product features, improvements, and field feedback

• Review PCB designs for manufacturability, component placement, routing, and reliability

📦 Component Sourcing & Vendor Coordination

Order PCBs through platforms

Coordinate with PCB Manufacturers and other electronics vendors

Identify, compare, and order electronic components and related parts

Maintain component lists, purchase records, and alternate component options

Support procurement of electronics, tools, connectors, sensors, cables, and other technical items

🧪 Prototyping, POC Setups & Testing

• Build and support proof-of-concept setups for product testing and demonstrations

• Design and assemble test setups for hardware, sensor, control-unit, and device-level validation

• Assist in preparing prototypes for internal testing, hospital demos, and field trials

• Coordinate with the software and mechanical teams during integration and testing

🛠 Debugging, Repair & Rework

• Debug PCBs, wiring, sensors, pneumatics and electronic assemblies

• Perform soldering, desoldering, PCB rework, and component replacement

• Repair and troubleshoot control units and product electronics

• Identify root causes of hardware failures and support corrective actions

• Maintain proper records of repairs, reworks, and technical observations

🏥 Service & Field Support

• Support service visits to hospitals, customer sites, and deployment locations when required

• Assist the service team in diagnosing device issues in the field

• Provide technical support to sales, service, manufacturing, and operations teams

• Help resolve hardware-related issues quickly to ensure device uptime

🤝 Cross-Functional Team Support

• Work with the software team for firmware testing, hardware-software integration, and debugging

• Support the mechanical team with electronics placement, wiring, mounting, and enclosure-related inputs

• Assist the manufacturing team with assembly processes, test procedures, and quality checks

• Contribute to continuous product improvement based on internal and field feedback

Skills & Qualifications

✅ Must-Have

• 0–2 years of experience in electronics / hardware engineering / PCB design / prototyping

• Diploma / B.Tech / B.E. in Electronics, ECE, EEE, Biomedical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related fields

• Basic knowledge of PCB design and schematic design

• Hands-on experience with soldering, wiring, multimeter, power supplies, and basic lab tools

• Ability to debug simple electronic circuits and PCB-level issues

• Basic understanding of sensors, motors, pumps, relays, power supplies, and microcontroller-based systems

• Comfortable working hands-on with prototypes, devices, and real hardware

• Willingness to visit customer sites or hospitals for service and technical support when required

• Ability to work in a fast-moving startup environment

➕ Good-to-Have Bonus

• Experience using KiCad / Altium / Eagle / EasyEDA or similar PCB design tools

• Experience ordering PCBs from JLCPCB or similar platforms
