Firmware Engineer

(Android BSP Engineer)

Responsibilities

To develop, customize, integrate, and maintain Android platform software on embedded devices. The role involves Android framework and kernel development , platform bring-up, system debugging , Android version upgrades, feature implementation , and collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver stable and secure Android products.

Qualifications

• B.E./B.Tech/ME/M.Tech
• 3-12 yrs exp. in Android platform development, BSP customization , and AOSP integration.
• Good understanding of Android Framework, HAL, Linux Kernel, Device Tree , and Android boot flow.
• Good in C and C++ programming
• Exp. in Android version upgrades, feature development , and platform debugging.
• Exposure to MediaTek/Qualcomm chipset platforms is preferred.
• Strong debugging skills using Logcat, ADB, Bug report, Kernel Logs , and Tombstones .
• Knowledge of Android security concepts such as SELinux, AVB , and Secure Boot.
• Familiarity w/ CTS/VTS issue analysis and defect resolution.
• Exp. in GAS integration is an added advantage
• Exp. w/ Git, Gerrit, JIRA, and Agile development methodology.
• Ability to Speak & Write in English . (TOEIC >600 or equivalent certificate)
• Tools & Technologies: AOSP, Android Studio , Git, Gerrit, JIRA, Linux, GDB, ADB, Fastboot , Logcat, Python/Shell Scripting, MediaTek BSP , CTS/VTS, GMS, GTS.
• Soft Skills: Problem-solving, analytical thinking, communication skills, collaboration, ownership mindset, and ability to work in fast-paced release environments.
• Bilingual capability is required (Mandarin & English). Mandarin speaking/reading is an essential skill in HCLTech Taiwan.
• Taiwan APRC is required w/ expat.
