Field Application Engineer

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Provides technical support within assigned target account(s) in technical communication between customer and hub design center, and supports BDM and Sales in their efforts to generate new businesses including NPI and new product promotion.

Explore new product business opportunities with BDM and PM Teams and evaluates new opportunities from engineering perspective.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Promotes and provides technical expertise in front of customers and supports Molex by interacting with customer engineers and project leaders in ways that result in successful new business opportunities in line with MSBU strategy.
• Builds successful engineering contacts and working relationships with technical key areas of the customer that establish Molex as a technical leader in the areas outlined by management directives and strategic initiative planning.
• Understand customer technical pain points and interpret them into the technical requirements or solutions. Prepare or guide the design-in of products that effectively meet those requirements in a timely manner.
• Functions as the interface between design hub PD and customers to ensure design-in objectives are met in a timely manner and assists by providing product information, engineering samples and technical advice, until a business opportunity is won.
• Is responsible for leading product design-in steps during the quotation phase for assigned projects and follows-up and supports new product development steps, relative to the Market Focus as a project team member.
• Prepare technical presentations and hold presentation sessions in front of customers to promote Molex products, present solution concepts with the target to win new business.
• Understand, support, and contribute to current Molex Total Quality Management (TQM), Six Sigma, International Standards Organization (ISO) and Environmental, and/or Health and Safety (EH&S) Management Systems by following stated policies and procedures.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by management as needed.
  
  
  

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or other relevant technical Engineering discipline.

Fluency in English, written and spoken.

5+ years of experience in connector related development.

Experience in working directly with external Customers.

Self-motivated and goal oriented

Strong customer focus and a deep understanding of value creation

Strong to communicate in English both written and verbally

2D/3D CAD design skills

Effective interpersonal skills to successfully influence co-workers, management, and external contacts to drive positive outcomes to situations.

Organizational skills to anticipate, plan, prioritize, and monitor workload.

Proactive, and able to demonstrate initiative and a sense of urgency.

Effective communication and presentation skills.

Ability to travel both domestically and internationally.
