About the Role
We are looking for an Embedded Systems Engineer – PhD (Freelancer) to support advanced AI evaluation initiatives focused on embedded architectures, real-time systems, hardware-software integration, and low-level systems engineering.
In this role, you will work with AI-generated outputs related to firmware development, microcontrollers, embedded Linux, communication protocols, performance optimization, and systems-level debugging, helping improve how AI models understand and solve complex embedded engineering challenges.
You will collaborate with global AI and engineering teams to assess the technical accuracy, efficiency, and reliability of AI-generated solutions. Your contributions will directly enhance AI systems used for embedded applications, hardware interfacing, and intelligent systems engineering.
Responsibilities

Create deliverables addressing common requests within your professional domain, including firmware workflows, embedded architectures, debugging strategies, and optimization techniques

Annotate and evaluate AI-generated responses related to embedded systems and low-level programming concepts

Review peer-developed deliverables to enhance AI research quality and consistency

Diagnose and solve complex embedded engineering and hardware-software integration challenges to improve AI reasoning capabilities

Assess AI outputs for correctness, efficiency, hardware compatibility, scalability, and system reliability

Identify bugs, incorrect assumptions, inefficient implementations, or real-time performance issues in AI-generated solutions and provide structured feedback

Contribute domain expertise to improve AI models focused on embedded systems, firmware engineering, and real-time applications
Requirements

PhD in Embedded Systems, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field

Strong understanding of embedded architectures, firmware development, and hardware-software integration

Expertise in C/C++, embedded Linux, RTOS, and communication protocols such as UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, or Ethernet

Experience with debugging tools, device drivers, performance optimization, and systems-level troubleshooting

Familiarity with IoT systems, FPGA/SoC platforms, or edge computing environments is preferred

Ability to critically evaluate embedded architectures, low-level code quality, and system reliability

Strong analytical and research-oriented problem-solving skills

Ability to work independently in a remote, fast-paced environment
