The Hardware Field Application Engineer is a customer-facing technical support role from pre-sales to post-sales, responsible for pitching Broadcom Ethernet switch/PHY/optics solutions, driving system architecture discussions, creating strategic plans to win customer projects and assisting customer board/system validation.
Scope of work
- Technical role for pre-sales activities
- Regularly communicate with customers about Broadcom product updates and new features
- Identify and win strategic opportunities with Sales and BU resource

Propose Broadcom solutions as per customer requirements and market trends
- Assist pre-design simulation and Q&A
- Review customer hardware schematics and layout design
- Support customer board bringing-up and system validation
- Drive customer designs to production
- Debug and troubleshoot manufacturing and field issues
- Understand customer applications, requirements and plans. Help product marketing team to define right products for targeted applications/markets.
- Work with hyperscaler/OEM/ODM customers and BU’s technical teams on a daily basis
- Manage customer projects and provide deep-dive reports from technical and business perspective
- Develop and maintain constructive relationships with customer engineers, technical leads and product marketing and manufacturing staff to gain insights to the workings of customer business

Collect market dynamics and intelligence for sales and BU to set right objectives and strategies
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in EE
- 8+ years working experience in hardware development of Ethernet switches/routers
- Familiar with network architecture of modern hyperscale data center
- Familiar with network protocols such as ROCE, TCP/IP, ECMP, tunneling and 1588
- Familiar with IEEE802.3 Ethernet standards and OIF CEI-112G/224G specifications
- Good knowledge of Ethernet physical layer from 1G to 800G is a must
- Good knowledge of simulation tools for signal and power integrity is a must
- Good knowledge of IEEE1588 is a must
- Meet, talk and stay with customers for technical and business discussions
- Strong verbal and written communication skill in English and Mandarin
- Able to travel on demand
- Experience with Broadcom Switch/PHY/DSP products is preferred
- Experience with Broadcom switch SDK and CLI is a plus
- Firmware experience is a plus
- Good knowledge of PoE is a plus
