Job Description

Smarterminds is the first startup in Belgium fully specialized in automotive software consultancy — and the one of the few who secured major OEM and Tier-1 clients during a period of industry-wide budget cuts. Our solution is simple: we provide expert consultants who integrate seamlessly into their in-house teams on fixed-term projects, ensuring delivery continuity and technical excellence.

We are currently looking to hire a Senior Embedded Software Consultant to support our clients in Benelux. This role gives you the unique opportunity to work in an international environment and gain direct exposure to some of the world’s most influential brands.

You’ll benefit from Belgium’s world-class social infrastructure — including medical insurance, education ranked top-5 globally, and exceptional quality of life — alongside hybrid work flexibility, training coverage, and an end-of-year bonus.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in embedded software development, preferably automotive sector.
  • Strong experience in Embedded C and C++.
  • Experience with AUTOSAR OS and BSW configuration.
  • ASPICE process compliance and V-Cycle (SWE 3,4,5)
  • Solid understanding of RTOS concepts and hands-on experience with real-time operating systems in embedded environments.
  • ISO 26262 Functional Safety development experience.
  • Experience with automotive communication protocols (CAN, LIN, SPI, Ethernet, etc.) and diagnostics UDS.
  • Unit/interface testing experience (Tessy, Unity, or similar).
  • Experience with static analysis tools (QAC) and configuration management tools (SVN, Git).
  • Fluent English and excellent communication skills.
  • You must be based in Europe

What We Offer

  • International exposure with major world class projects
  • Competitive salary with full Belgian social security benefits
  • Medical insurance + extra DKV global coverage
  • High quality of life: top healthcare, education, and infrastructure
  • Hybrid work model with flexible working hours according to project needs
  • Training budget for certifications & continuous skill development
  • Modern, supportive leadership focused on growth and autonomy
  • End-of-year bonus tied to company success
