Job Description

We are working with a client near McHenry, IL who is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Embedded Software Engineer. This position is responsible for the new and further development of solutions within the scope of interdisciplinary product development activities, in order to realize the planned product portfolio and deliver targeted business value. This is a hybrid position with a 1-2 days a week or remote work. T his is a temporary position through the end of the year. No sponsorship is available. No B2C/C2C. Must live in the north Chicago area. No relocation available.


Duties/Responsibilities:


  • Independent processing of defined work packages as well as the definition and coordination of work. packages up to the management of sub-projects in compliance with the specified deadlines, costs and quality. Ability to break down work into digestible work packages, to drive execution of work packages proactively and contribute to the achievement of goals within a planning cycle.
  • As part of an agile, cross functional group, technically focused in building solutions in small increments, is skilled to define, build, test and deliver value.
  • Frequent synchronization, creates transparency and supporting planning or work in order to reach the objectives as per plan.
  • Fast attempt in learning and providing and getting regular feedback with the goal of continuous improvement.
  • Collaboration in product definition and implementation of requirements in prototypes and utility models ("user centered design" / "design thinking"/ "Agile product development") with the intent to demonstrate performance, quality and value to customer are met.
  • Own sub-system level requirements (e.g. Hardware or Software) in alignment with system and product requirements, system architecture definition and interface specifications.
  • Responsible for the design and implementation of hardware and software for embedded systems according to given design inputs up to series production readiness.
  • Design of the parts / assemblies and development of the product specification including common methods and tools (EDA tool, Simulation, PLM) as well as conduction regular technical reviews on best practice and methodology of design.
  • Develop, code, test and debug device and system software according the product specification including common methods and tools (SW configuration management tools, defect tracking tools, peer review) as well as conduction regular technical reviews on best practice and methodology of design.
  • Execution, analysis and documentation of construction-accompanying engineering tests as well as feedback of the findings into the product design.
  • Preparation and documentation of design FMEA according to risk management process and return of necessary mitigation measures to the construction as well as identification of critical to quality aspects of the design.
  • Planning, coordination and documentation of internal and external proofs (verification & validation) in close collaboration with Verification Engineers and Validation Specialists and according test strategy.
  • Ensure compliance with company processes and instructions as well as applicable regulatory requirements and standards.


Qualifications:


  • Bachelor/Master's degree in either Electrical or Computer Engineering, Computer Science or Engineering, or Embedded Systems Engineering.


Experience:


  • 5+ years professional experience
  • English fluent is a must, German is a plus
  • Experience in development with a EDA tool, preferably Altium
  • Experience in hardware/firmware development on embedded target microcontroller
  • Proficiency in software development and object oriented design principles
  • Proficiency in programming languages C/C++
  • Experience with MS VisualStudio and IAR development environments
  • Experience with embedded systems design and real-time operating systems
  • Personal projects in the field of embedded systems design and/or control
