Job Description

Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Senior Embedded Software Engineer role based in Lund. The Senior Embedded Software Engineer will design, develop, and optimize embedded software for Elonroad’s systems, working closely with hardware, product, and test engineers. Day-to-day responsibilities include implementing firmware features, integrating software with electronic components, and troubleshooting system-level issues. The role involves writing clean and efficient C/C++ code, conducting code reviews, performing unit and integration testing, and maintaining documentation for designs and implementations. The Senior Embedded Software Engineer will also contribute to architectural decisions, support continuous improvement of development processes, and assist in bringing prototypes to reliable, production-ready solutions.
Qualifications
  • Strong proficiency in embedded C/C++ programming, including low-level driver development and real-time system implementation.
  • Experience with microcontroller- and microprocessor-based systems, hardware–software integration, and familiar use of oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other lab tools.
  • Solid understanding of real-time operating systems (RTOS), communication protocols (such as UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, or Ethernet), and system-level debugging.
  • Background in software architecture and design, including modular design, code review practices, and use of version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Experience with testing and validation of embedded systems, including unit testing frameworks, integration testing, and developing testable, maintainable code.
  • Relevant academic background, such as a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional teams, communicate technical concepts clearly, and take ownership of complex engineering tasks.
  • Experience in power electronics, automotive, or industrial control systems, and familiarity with safety-critical or highly reliable systems is beneficial.
  • Comfort working on-site in a lab and workshop environment, with a hands-on approach to prototyping, testing, and continuous improvement.
