ABOUT YOU

You are a highly motivated Robotics Engineer with hands on experience building autonomous systems with a strong focus on visual perception. You enjoy working on complex, real world robotics problems and ideally have experience with flying vehicles or aerial platforms.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Shape the software and perception architecture for autonomous flying countermeasures
• Join as one of the early members of a high performing team designing and developing autonomous systems to protect allied countries from aerial threats
• Own, design, develop, document and test high performance, reliable autonomous systems running on resource constrained, Linux based platforms
• Design and implement algorithms and software for perception, state estimation and autonomy
• Identify, integrate and validate sensors, including cameras, for autonomous flying systems
• Build high fidelity simulations and digital twins for offline development and online validation
• Work hands on and close to the hardware during development, integration and testing phases
• Establish CI/CD pipelines for automated builds and non regression testing
• Draft, review and maintain technical documentation and design documents
• Act as a team player and mentor, supporting and growing the team when needed

• Onsite in Brussels, Belgium

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Control Systems, Computer Science or equivalent
• Demonstrated experience in a similar role, with ownership of one or more subsystems of complex robotics products
• Strong proficiency in C++ for production systems and Python for rapid prototyping
• Experience with ROS2 or other robotics middleware
• Solid knowledge of state estimation, perception, sensor fusion and autonomous systems
• Experience using simulation and visualization tools such as RViz, Foxglove, Gazebo or similar
• Exposure to electro mechanical systems integration
• Ability to prototype independently using off the shelf electronic components and 3D printed parts
• Excellent written and spoken English, French or Dutch is a plus
• Self starter mindset, comfortable working in high ambiguity environments and taking ownership of new challenges

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Proficiency in Rust
• Experience with the PX4 flight controller or other flight controllers
• Experience selecting sensors such as thermal or RGB cameras, laser rangefinders, IMUs and actuators including servo or geared motors
• Experience with drones, missiles, rockets or other flying vehicles
• Experience with one or more of the following areas: VIO or SLAM, machine learning model training, reinforcement learning
