About the Role

We are seeking a versatile and hands-on Robotics Engineer to join the AI Partnerships team in Bangalore, India. This is a role within an established US-based team that is expanding into India. You will work at the intersection of robotics, AI, and systems integration, collaborating with model builders and end users to deploy intelligent robotic solutions in real-world industrial environments. The AI Partnerships team is part of the Chief AI Officer's organization and works across Teradyne's robotics portfolio, including Universal Robots (UR), the global leader in collaborative cobots, and Mobile Industrial Robots (MiR), pioneers in autonomous mobile robots. Your primary focus will be on robot manipulation applications, with additional involvement in visual inspection and autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) / mobile manipulators. This role requires a well-rounded robotics engineer with strong software development skills, as well as practical experience in mechanical and electrical integration of robotic systems. You will be responsible for deploying and supporting AI-enabled robotic solutions that operate reliably in dynamic, production environments.

Responsibilities

  • Integrate AI models into robotic systems using ROS2, Python, and C++.
  • Design, implement, and test robotic subsystems involving mechanical, electrical, and software components.
  • Develop and validate manipulation and perception capabilities including object detection, classification, pose estimation, and grasping.
  • Work with sensors such as RGBD cameras, LiDAR, and depth sensors to support perception and control.
  • Use simulation tools (e.g., NVIDIA Isaac Sim) for development, testing, and synthetic data generation.
  • Deploy AI solutions from prototype to production on physical robots, ensuring safety, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Collaborate with global teams including Universal Robots and MiR, as well as external model builders and integration partners.
  • Support projects in inspection and AMR/mobile manipulator domains, including hardware-software integration and field validation.

Qualifications

  • BS or MS in Robotics, Mechatronics, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 3–6+ years of experience in robotics engineering, including system-level integration of mechanical, electrical, and software components.
  • Proficiency in Python and working knowledge of C++.
  • Experience with ROS2 and deploying AI models in robotic systems.
  • Familiarity with PyTorch or similar ML frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of robotics fundamentals including kinematics, motion planning, control, and sensor integration.
  • Hands-on experience with robotic hardware, including wiring, sensor calibration, and actuator control.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.

Required Skills

  • Robotics software + real robots
  • ROS / robotics stack + deployment experience
  • Programming + hardware integration
  • Industrial applications + manipulator experience

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with robotic perception in production environments.
  • Familiarity with sim-to-real transfer techniques.
  • Exposure to reinforcement learning or imitation learning.
  • Awareness of Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models.
  • Experience with robot programming environments (e.g., URScript, PLCs).
  • Background in industrial automation, manufacturing, or logistics.
  • Experience with anomaly detection or unsupervised learning.
  • Familiarity with safety standards and best practices for deploying robots in shared human environments.

Pay range and compensation package

You will be remunerated with an excellent base salary and entitled to attractive company benefits. Additionally, you will get the opportunity to enjoy a fun and collaborative work environment, alongside a strong career progression.
