Job Description

Build the technology that keeps critical signals connected.

Right now, a satellite is communicating with a ground station. A defense system is maintaining a link no one can afford to lose. A spacecraft is transmitting data home across millions of miles.

Behind those connections is clean, efficient, exceptionally compact RF power and that is what we build.

At Mission Microwave, we design and manufacture advanced Solid-State Power Amplifiers and Block Upconverters for some of the world’s most demanding aerospace, defense, and satellite communications applications. By combining GaN technology, proprietary power-combining architectures, and full-system engineering, we deliver smaller, lighter, and more efficient solutions that outperform the technologies they replace.

We're a fast-growing, privately backed team with over 100 years of combined RF leadership and we've been named a Great Place to Work® every year since 2022, ranked #23 on Fortune's Best Workplaces in Manufacturing & Production.

We do difficult, meaningful engineering and we genuinely enjoy building it together.

Now we are looking for an RF Engineer to help design what comes next.

Why you'll love this role

This isn't a maintain-the-legacy-product job. You'll own real designs from the first whiteboard sketch all the way to production hardware flying in some of the most demanding environments on (and off) Earth. Concept, simulation, circuit design, integration, verification, production support; the whole lifecycle is yours.

You'll work shoulder-to-shoulder with mechanical, thermal, manufacturing, and quality engineers who are just as obsessive about getting it right as you are. And because we're growing, the work you ship actually ships, fast, at volume, and into systems that matter.

If you've ever wanted your designs to count , this is where they will.

What you'll actually do

  • Architect inventive quasi-optical and spatial power-combining designs that push the limits of efficiency and density
  • Run electromagnetic and RF/microwave simulations in ADS, AWR, HFSS, and CST then turn the results into hardware that performs in the real world
  • Design and simulate the full toolkit: power amplifiers, converters, synthesizers, filters, mixers, and T/R modules to hit demanding system-level requirements
  • Select and evaluate RF components (transistors, mixers, switches, passives) for high-power, high-reliability applications
  • Build test plans and stand up measurement setups (VNAs, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, power meters) to characterize gain, efficiency, power, noise figure, linearity, stability, and thermal behavior
  • Write the documentation that makes great engineering repeatable: design reports, test results, root-cause and failure analyses, manufacturing support
  • Partner across teams to make every design robust, manufacturable, and built to last
  • Drive new product introduction (NPI) design reviews, manufacturability assessments, prototype builds, and fast issue resolution during ramp-up
  • Troubleshoot the most difficult technical problems stuff across design, test, reliability, and manufacturing and leave it better than you found it
  • Keep an eye on the horizon and help shape our technology roadmap

What you bring

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field
  • 3+ years of hands-on RF/microwave circuit and subsystem design and measurement
  • Strong command of at least one major RF simulation tool (HFSS, Microwave Office, ADS, CST, or similar)
  • Fluency with RF test equipment, including network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, signal generators, power meters
  • Solid applied math, including calculus and strong spatial reasoning
  • A real sense of ownership, sharp attention to detail, and the discretion to handle sensitive work
  • Clear communication skills, you can explain your design to a fellow RF engineer and to the manufacturing floor

Nice to have (genuinely a plus, not secretly required)

  • Experience with quasi-optical or spatial power-combining architectures
  • Electronic Warfare (EW) or radar background
  • A track record thriving in a fast-paced, build-it-and-ship-it environment

The fine print

Many of our roles support U.S. Government programs and require the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is available only to U.S. citizens. If you receive a conditional offer, you may go through a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

We maintain a drug-free workplace and conduct pre-employment background checks and, where permitted by law, substance-abuse testing.
