Job Description

About the Role


This position will be involved with the design and layout of printed circuit boards including schematic capture, PCB size optimization, PCB layer stack up, trace routing, and interconnects in addition to creating and maintaining all design documents.



Major Job Responsibilities:


  • Complete IPC-compliant production intent PCB layouts for program-specific applications
  • Participation with the program teams for the specific applications where discussion of the requirements for their component
  • Update layouts of existing designs with approved changes
  • Optimize component placement considering thermal, mechanical, EM emission, and EM Immunity properties of the unit
  • Perform DFM checks on completed designs
  • Create PCB fabrication drawings utilizing Nexteer templates
  • Provide a completed design package to the engineering team for release
  • Timely communication of project status and relevant issues
  • Regular contact with local and global cross-functional teams outside the workgroup
  • Support maintenance of component library
  • Support Bill of Material development for new and updated schematics
  • Support continuous improvement activities


Qualifications


  • Bachelor (Preferred but not a must) - Electrical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology with board layout experience
  • Min. 2 years of experience in the similar position


Required Skills


  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • Good English
  • IPC standards including IPC A-600, IPC-A-610, IPC-2221 and IPC-2222
  • IPC CID or CID+
  • Knowledge of PCB and circuit card assembly manufacturing processes
  • Familiarity with automotive product development processes
  • Familiarity with electronic schematic circuit diagrams


Preferred Skills



  • Understanding of basic electrical circuit design
  • Understanding of basic electromagnetic principles pertaining to printed circuit boards
  • Experience with thermal management in a printed circuit board
  • Experience with the MS Windows operating system
  • Automotive circuit board design
  • Understanding of the PCB manufacturing process
  • Understanding of EMS manufacturing processes
  • Extensive experience if NX (Unigraphics) MCAD toolset associated with the design of Electric Power Steering Power Packs units
  • Experience with board-level simulation
  • Experience with Design for Manufacturing software such as Mentor Graphics Valor or EasyLogix PCB Investigator
  • Experience with IPC design rules for both FR4 and Flexible circuits
  • Experience with CAD drawing formats and tools
  • Experience with Mentor Xpedition
  • Experience with Mentor Graphics Board Station
