About The Role

We are seeking a talented and dedicated Neural Network Compiler Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for maximizing the performance of our neural networks by enhancing and extending our production-grade compiler. You will collaborate closely with hardware architects and model developers to deepen our understanding of our neural network inference platform and develop support for novel features of our high-performance architecture. Your work will directly impact the efficiency and effectiveness of Waymo’s autonomous driving systems, enabling safer and more reliable autonomous vehicles. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise in compiler development, parallel computing, and machine learning inference, along with a passion for advancing autonomous vehicle technology.

Qualifications

  • BS degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with 3+ years of industry experience OR
  • MS degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with 1+ years of industry experience OR
  • PhD degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • At least 1 year of industry and/or academic experience working with compilers and parallel computing
  • Experience with ML inference or linear algebra computations in industry or academia
  • Proficiency in C++ programming

Responsibilities

  • Enhance and extend our production-grade neural network compiler to improve performance and support new features
  • Collaborate with hardware architects and model developers to understand and optimize neural network inference platforms
  • Implement compiler support for novel features of high-performance architecture to maximize efficiency
  • Analyze and optimize neural network models for inference performance and resource utilization
  • Contribute to the development of tools and workflows for neural network compilation and deployment
  • Stay current with advancements in compiler technologies, neural network architectures, and machine learning algorithms
