Employment Terms

Part time - contract

About the Role

We're building industrial IoT technology that connects manufacturing machinery — from legacy standalone equipment to modern connected machines — into reliable, secure data pipelines. We're looking for an Industrial Embedded IoT / Electrical Engineer to design, build, and deploy edge hardware and machine-connectivity solutions across a wide range of machine types, protocols, and factory environments in Pakistan and beyond.

This is hands-on field engineering: you'll be on factory floors, in electrical panels, and inside embedded Linux systems — often in the same week.

Tasks

What You'll Do

Configure and deploy ruggedized industrial edge gateway hardware at customer manufacturing sites

Develop and maintain drivers and integrations for industrial communication standards (OPC-UA, Modbus RTU/TCP, Profinet, EtherNet/IP, and similar fieldbus/Ethernet protocols)

Design and install sensor-based solutions for machines without native connectivity

Build and maintain embedded Linux (Yocto/Debian) images and edge-device software

Implement secure data transmission (MQTT, HTTPS/REST) with TLS and certificate-based authentication

Perform on-site electrical/panel wiring, sensor installation, and machine-side integration work

Troubleshoot connectivity across mixed-brand industrial machine fleets

Work with our data team to ensure edge-to-cloud data quality (validation, buffering, normalisation)

Produce clear, disciplined documentation of machine connectivity assessments and installations

Requirements

What You'll Need

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, or a related field

3–6 years in industrial automation, embedded systems, or industrial IoT (IIoT)

Hands-on experience with industrial protocols: Modbus, OPC-UA, Profinet, EtherNet/IP, or similar

Working knowledge of embedded Linux (Yocto, Debian, or similar) and C/C++ and Python

Experience with PLCs, industrial sensors (proximity, current, temperature), and electrical wiring/panel work

Understanding of network security fundamentals (TLS, certificate-based authentication, VPN/network segmentation)

Willingness to travel to manufacturing sites across Pakistan for installation and commissioning

Nice to Have

Experience with plastics processing or other discrete manufacturing equipment

Experience with protocol gateways / OPC servers (e.g. Kepware, Softing, or similar)

Experience with MQTT brokers, time-series databases (InfluxDB/TimescaleDB), or edge data pipelines

Prior experience at an IIoT / Industry 4.0 product company

Familiarity with cellular (4G/5G) and Wi-Fi connectivity for remote sites

Soft Skills

Strong troubleshooting and field problem-solving ability

Comfortable working directly with factory-floor personnel and customer engineering teamsAble to work independently on-site with minimal supervision

Benefits

What We Offer

Ground-floor role building core edge-connectivity technology for a growing industrial software company

Exposure to a wide range of machine types, protocols, and manufacturing environments

A collaborative, hands-on engineering culture with direct customer impact

Location & TravelBased in Lahore, Pakistan, with periodic travel to customer manufacturing facilities across Pakistan and Ireland.
