About Us

Avionyx is a +35 year old company serving the aerospace market with a variety of design services located in Heredia, Costa Rica. The company is growing rapidly, and this includes a focused push into electronics design. You have an opportunity to be a part of a brand-new team Avionyx is standing up to accomplish electronics design for aerospace application. While the focus of this new group initially will be on rapid development of special purpose test equipment, the long-term goal is on development of actual flight hardware. The successful candidates will work with software, systems, mechanical, and other electrical engineers to design, build, test, and support electronic equipment.



About the Job


  • Design, test and bring-up electronic equipment per a defined specification addressing desired functionality, performance, and reliability
  • Support writing software for hardware-in-the-loop testing
  • Take ownership of the design including driving key component and PCB design choices
  • Support electrical system architecture trade studies
  • Perform supporting analyses such as loads and thermal analysis



Required

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
  • Strong understanding of electrical fundamentals and best practices Power conversion (linear and switching regulators)
  • High-speed digital design and layout
  • Signal conditioning and conversion (ADCs, filters)
  • Discrete semiconductor design (FETs, BJTs, Diodes)
  • Schematic capture and PCB design
  • Experience with electrical component selection
  • Experience with ECAD software
  • Hands-on experience with building and debugging hardware
  • Great communication skills including fluency in English



Desired

  • Advanced degree in relevant discipline
  • 3+ years of working experience in relevant industry (aerospace, automotive, medical)
  • Proficiency with ECAD programs, specifically Altium Designer
  • Design-for-reliability, including use of DFMEA and fault trees
  • Designing for high EMI environments
  • Experience designing for high reliability / harsh environments
  • Competency with MCAD programs such as CATIA, Autodesk and Solidworks
  • Competency in embedded Linux, Python and C++
