HID Firmware Engineer

Firmware delivered by HID powers the amazing sensing interfaces used on iPhone, iPad, Mac, AirPods, health sensors, and more.nnOur engineers are involved in all phases of product development, from the earliest concept reviews all the way through first customer ship. Description

As a HID firmware engineer working on many of Apple's embedded sensors, you will be expected to:nnArchitect, implement, and maintain complex firmware designsnnDefine and bring up new sensing chipsets and processors from initial specification to productionnnBe an active participant in the design process, working closely with internal and external partnersnnWrite clean, robust, testable, and sustainable code tailored for embedded systems nnEfficiently debug and close out system issues related to your firmware nnSpecify and document communication protocols, system states, and feature requirements in partnership with other firmware and software teamsnnCollaborate with Quality Engineering teams to inform and craft their white-box testing

Minimum Qualifications

BS and a minimum of 3 years relevant industry experiencennC or C++ for Embedded SystemsnnExperience working with analog and digital sensors

Preferred Qualifications

Strong communication and collaboration skillsnnExperience with multithreaded programmingnnExperience developing complex architectures in RTOS environmentsnnWorking knowledge of inter-processor communication methodologies and SOC concepts such as MMU’s, caching strategies, and ARM architecturesnnExperience designing and implementing communication protocolsnnExperience optimizing for memory and execution time in resource constrained environmentsnnExperience with advanced debugging in embedded environments (e.g., coredumps, traces)nnDeep experience working with analog and digital sensorsnnProven capability to apply software standard methodologies to firmware designsnnExperience contributing to large software projectsnnExperience with unit testing, static analysis, and continuous integration

Pay & Benefits

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $126,800 and $190,900, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.u003cbru003eu003cbru003eApple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
