Job Description

Graduate Wireless Electronic Engineer (Wireless Products Team)

BAE Systems Digital Intelligence

BAE Systems Digital Intelligence is a leading provider of cyber, intelligence, and security solutions for the UK Government and its trusted partners. Within this, the Wireless Products Team develops innovative, mission‑critical technology that blends high‑performance software, electronic engineering, signal processing, and embedded systems. Our work spans extreme environments—from deep underwater communications to systems operating in the vacuum of space.

Job Description

NETbuilder, in partnership with BAE Systems, is seeking curious, analytical, and technically minded graduates —particularly those from Physics and mathematically intensive STEM backgrounds —to join a growing team of engineers and software developers at the BAE Systems Guildford office.

Before joining your project team, you will complete a 12‑week intensive training programme , starting September 2026 (subject to security clearance).

The 12‑Week Training Programme

Your training combines both technical depth and real‑world engineering practice, helping you transition from academic physics to applied engineering and software development.

During the programme you will learn:

  • Signal processing and algorithms
  • Computer architectures and embedded systems
  • C++ programming for high‑performance applications
  • DevOps tools and workflows
  • How to apply physical modelling and mathematical reasoning to real engineering challenges

Programme Structure

  • Week 1: Onsite induction, networking, and introductory learning
  • Weeks 2–6: Remote technical and consultative training, structured learning + guided self‑study
  • Weeks 7–12: Onsite training embedded in a live project environment in Guildford

Who We’re Looking For

This role is well‑suited to physics, maths and other STEM graduates who enjoy applying analytical thinking to practical systems. You will thrive if you:

  • Enjoy solving complex, open‑ended problems
  • Like experimenting with technology — whether personal coding projects, building electronics, simulations, etc.
  • Take initiative and enjoy exploring new concepts independently
  • Can learn advanced technical ideas quickly
  • Work well both collaboratively and independently
  • Have strong attention to detail and an interest in precision engineering
  • Are comfortable asking questions and suggesting improvements
  • Can build rapport with people from diverse disciplines, from software developers to RF engineers

Accepted Degree Subjects

We welcome candidates with degrees in:

  • Physics
  • Mathematics
  • Engineering disciplines
  • Computer Science
  • Other STEM subjects with a strong mathematical and analytical focus

Physics students with strengths in areas such as electromagnetism, computational methods, signal analysis, or experimental measurement systems will find this role particularly rewarding.

Additional Information

Location

Training is delivered partly remote and partly onsite.

Upon completion, your placement will be at a BAE Systems office in Guildford

Security Clearance

Due to the sensitive nature of the work, candidates must undergo UK Security Vetting.

This process will begin during training.
