Role Description This is a freelance, on-site Electronic Engineer role based in Whimple. The Electronic Engineer will design, develop, and review electronic circuits and assemblies for high-reliability PCB, cable, and box-build projects.

Day-to-day responsibilities include creating and updating schematics, supporting NPI activities, performing testing and validation of electronic systems, and providing engineering input into DFM and production readiness. The role involves troubleshooting and resolving technical issues on the manufacturing floor, collaborating with production, quality, and test teams, and maintaining clear documentation to support traceability and compliance.

The engineer will also contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and ensure designs meet customer specifications, regulatory requirements, and internal quality standards.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in Electronic Engineering and Electrical Engineering, with the ability to apply engineering principles to high-reliability manufacturing environments.
• Proficiency in Circuit Design and practical Electronics, including schematic capture, component selection, and design for manufacturability.
• Experience with Testing of electronic assemblies and systems, including test plan development, fault-finding, and validation against specifications.
• Familiarity with PCB assembly processes, cable and loom production, and electromechanical integration is highly beneficial.
• Knowledge of IPC standards, aerospace or medical device quality practices, and working within ISO9001 or AS9100D frameworks is an advantage.
• Ability to read and produce technical documentation, including drawings, BOMs, test reports, and change control records.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills, with a disciplined approach to problem-solving and attention to detail.
• Relevant engineering qualification.
