Position Overview

Entrust is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer I to work within our product development team. This individual will perform the responsibilities outlined below and other duties as assigned. Join a talented and dynamic team of engineers developing systems used to print and personalize credit cards, passports, driver’s licenses, national IDs and more.

The Entrust Embedded Software team plays a key role in bringing this wide range of hardware products to life through use of embedded control of motors, sensors, vision systems, and huge variety of personalization technologies, including smart card chip programming, laser engraving, and printing. The team works closely with other Engineering disciplines as well as cross-functional teams to ensure our products meet the highest level of security and integrity, all while achieving industry leading levels of performance.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, document and deploy embedded software and other firmware
• Assist in reviewing product requirements and estimation of work
• Work with test team to validate functionality
• Participate in code reviews
• Review and Respond to reported field problems
• Debug issues at the boundary of Hardware and Firmware
  
  

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent technical degree
• Experience in C++ and/or C
• Comfortable working with Linux and in embedded development environments
• Displays strong desire to build skills and knowledge
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Experience working with multi-person teams and projects
• Must have unrestricted work authorization for US
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with embedded Linux, VxWorks or other embedded real-time operating system
• Experience with revision control systems, e.g. Subversion, Git, Mercurial
• Experience with project/issue tracking systems, e.g. Jira, Gitlab, GitHub
• Experience in Python
• Experience in working with electro-mechanical systems
• Experience reading and understanding electrical schematics
• Experience with development processes, methodologies, and tools
• Ability to work autonomously with cross functional team members

Compensation Range

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $68,869-$101,008 per year (in the primary posting location). Actual compensation will be determined based on geographic location, education, skills and experience. This position is also eligible for the company’s discretionary annual incentive plan. In addition to your pay, Entrust offers eligible colleagues and their dependents comprehensive health and well-being programs which include medical, vision, dental, a generous 401(k) matching contribution, life and disability insurance, mental health coaching, virtual fitness programs, paid personal time off plus 12 paid holidays, parental leave and education reimbursement.
