FPGA Engineer

We're partnering with a pioneering deep-tech company developing next-generation secure communications technology through a combination of advanced satellite system and cutting-edge hardware engineering.

As part of a highly specialised engineering team, you'll play a key role in designing and developing FPGA-based platforms that sit at the heart of complex communication systems. Working alongside scientists, physicists, and hardware engineers, you'll help solve real-world challenges in an environment where research transitions rapidly into deployable technology.

This is a hands-on engineering position focused on FPGA design, embedded hardware, high-speed electronics, and system integration. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to technology being developed for some of the most demanding communications and networking applications in the world.

Key requirements include:

• Strong FPGA development experience using VHDL and/or Verilog
• Experience designing and testing FPGA-based hardware platforms
• Knowledge of common electronics interfaces such as SPI, I2C and Ethernet
• PCB design, bring-up and debugging experience, particularly around high-speed signals
• Strong documentation and quality assurance practices
• Ability to work closely with multidisciplinary engineering and research teams

Desirable experience includes:

• Telecommunications systems
• Timing, synchronisation or TDC technologies
• Optical or photonics-based systems
• Space, aerospace or satellite electronics
• Advanced sensing or LiDAR technologies
• Experience working within research-led or deep-tech environments
