Your Impact
You will be working on sophisticated, industrial, real-time systems involving embedded hardware and software platforms, automated validation, and simulation of field conditions. This team of engineers develops innovative monitoring systems used for Grid Monitoring, Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS), and Generation applications in electrical substations and power plants.
Here’s Where You’ll Demonstrate Your Proficiencies
-
Validation and verification of embedded systems incorporating processors, microcontrollers, Linux-based platforms, and analog/digital I/O subsystems.
-
Design, development, and execution of test plans for hardware components integrated with firmware and software.
-
Development of automated test tools, test frameworks, and simulation environments for hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and system-level testing.
-
Execution of integration testing across hardware, firmware, networking, and application software layers.
-
Support for regulatory and compliance testing activities, including CE, UL, IEC, IEEE, EMC, and environmental verification.
-
Investigation and root-cause analysis of complex system issues using electrical test equipment, protocol analysis tools, network monitoring tools, and system logs.
-
Collaboration with hardware, firmware, software, and systems engineering teams to ensure robust product validation and long-term reliability.
-
Use of Agile Scrum methodologies to support validation activities, continuous improvement, and product quality initiatives.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:
-
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent.
-
Industry experience, including at least three years in embedded systems validation, hardware verification, or test automation within a laboratory or production environment.
-
Strong understanding of embedded systems, digital and analogue electronics, and electrical engineering principles.
-
Experience developing automated test solutions using scripting or programming languages such as Python, C#, LabVIEW, or similar.
-
Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and drive high-performance validation strategies.
-
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, interpersonal, and technical communication skills.
Preferred Skills
-
Experience with cabinet wiring, electrical safety, circuit protection, and industrial control systems.
-
Hands-on experience using oscilloscopes, digital multimeters (DMMs), signal generators, and other laboratory instrumentation for verification and validation activities.
-
Experience with networking equipment, managed Ethernet switches, GPS, PTP, NTP, or other precision timing technologies.
-
Experience troubleshooting network communications using packet capture and analysis tools such as Wireshark.
-
Experience with industrial communication protocols including IEC 61850, DNP3, Modbus, and related testing methodologies.
-
Experience developing automated test harnesses, regression test systems, and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) test environments.
-
Familiarity with protocol testing tools such as IEC Browser, IED Scout, Modbus Poll, and Modbus Slave.
-
Exposure to fault location, digital fault recording (DFR), power quality (PQ), synchrophasor (PMU), condition monitoring, or other grid power system applications.
-
Experience with Linux-based embedded platforms and use of version control tools such as Git.
-
Knowledge of serial communication interfaces including UART, SPI, I²C, CAN, or RS-485.
-
Exposure to cybersecurity testing, vulnerability assessment, secure communications protocols, or IEC 62443 requirements would be advantageous.
