Job Description

Comet Aerospace is developing surface to surface and surface to air missiles. We are starting full RnD work in furthering the development of our missile. We need an embedded systems or flight software engineer for the same.


Below is the overall work plan -


Background: We have already conducted an unguided missile launch test with a range of 2 KM. In this "unguided" test, we had limited control on where our missile would land once launched.

As next steps, we want to make this guided , meaning the missile would be required to hit a fixed GPS coordinate once launched. At a very high level, this requires three sub-systems to be added to the missile -

  • Flight Computer: This includes IMUs, GPS sensors so that the missile knows its current location and orientation at all times. The peripheral electronics and battery packs are also part of this.
  • Aerodynamic Control Surfaces: This includes actuator mounted fins and canards that allow the missile to turn mid air, and head towards the target. This requires two things - an aerodynamic study to figure out the fin sizes, and movement required, and calculating the torque and power requirements for the actuators.
  • Flight Control Software: This reads data from the sensors, and outputs the required fin/canard actuation.


Mission Requirements -

  • range 10 KM (maximum distance between launch site, and target)
  • CEP - 5 meters (Circular Error Probable)
  • Warhead payload Mass - 10 KG


Fun fact - the rest of the missile i.e. propulsion and airframe has already been developed & flight tested by us, so you can expect your work to get live tested in the field right away!
