Embedded Software Engineer | £55,000 - £68,000
We're working with a pioneering drone technology and innovative engineering house on this exciting opportunity.
This is a mid-level embedded role with a high-octane twist, where you will transition from writing complex Firmware in the lab to testing your code in the field on live UAV systems. If you have a passion for Embedded C, Linux environments, and hands-on hardware troubleshooting, this is your chance to join a fast-growing team where FPV and drone hobbyists aren't just welcomed—they're the perfect fit.
The Role
-
Design, develop, and debug robust Embedded C firmware for cutting-edge real-world systems.
-
Take full ownership of communication protocols including CANbus, I2C, and SPI to interface with various hardware devices.
-
Develop higher-level scripts and internal tooling using Python and C++ to streamline the development lifecycle.
-
Transition from the desk to the field, participating in live trials and troubleshooting hardware/PCB-level issues on-site.
-
Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team of mechanical and electrical engineers to deliver integrated tech solutions.
What You'll Need
-
Strong professional experience in Embedded C programming within a Linux development environment.
-
Proven hands-on experience working with communication buses (CANbus, I2C, SPI) at the device level, not just theoretical knowledge.
-
A genuine passion for UAVs, drones, or FPV systems (hobbyist or professional experience is highly valued).
-
Proficiency in Python or C++ for tooling and a solid understanding of debugging hardware and PCB systems.
-
Flexibility to travel for field trials and a hands-on "problem-solver" attitude when working with physical kit.
What's On Offer
-
Competitive salary range of £55,000 - £68,000 based on experience.
-
Flexible working hours with core hours and options for early starts/finishes to support work-life balance.
-
Hybrid working model with the ability for remote work on Fridays where the project schedule allows.
-
The opportunity to work on genuinely unique, high-growth engineering projects in a close-knit, expert team.
