Embedded Software Engineer | £65 - £78
We're working with a world-class defence innovator pushing the boundaries of wireless technology and tactical communication systems on this exciting opportunity.
Step into a high-impact role within an Advanced Developments Group (ADG), where you will prototype cutting-edge wireless solutions and bring next-generation prototypes to deployment. You’ll be working at the intersection of Bare-Metal and Embedded Linux, leveraging C++, RISC-V, and Software Defined Radio (SDR) to solve complex engineering challenges in a high-security environment.
The Role
-
Develop innovative Embedded software and firmware prototypes using C and C++ within an Agile framework.
-
Build and deploy robust Embedded Linux systems using industrial-grade tools such as Yocto and Buildroot.
-
Design and implement real-time software on advanced architectures including Microblaze and RISC-V.
-
Take ownership of kernel configurations, U-boot management, and the development of complex device trees.
-
Transition early-stage technology concepts into fully validated, deployment-standard software solutions.
What You'll Need
-
Expert-level proficiency in C/C++ specifically for Real-Time Embedded Systems and bare-metal environments.
-
Deep experience with Linux device drivers, including Interrupts, DMA, and Kernel-level configuration.
-
Strong background in Digital Signal Processing (DSP) and Software Defined Radio (SDR) principles.
-
Hands-on experience with hardware/software integration on platforms like RISC-V or Microblaze.
-
Ability to work effectively in an offline development environment while managing complex toolchains like Yocto.
What's On Offer
-
Competitive contract rate of £65 - £78 per hour (Inside IR35).
-
Long-term stability with an initial 12-month contract and high potential for ongoing extensions.
-
Hybrid working model providing a great balance between deep-focus remote work and collaborative on-site engineering.
-
The chance to work on high-stakes, mission-critical defence technology that dictates the future of wireless communication.
