Job Description

Shape the future of Pro Audio Software

Pascal develops high-end amplifier solutions for some of the world’s most demanding pro-audio brands. We’re scaling our embedded platforms and are looking for an Embedded Linux Engineer with solid experience in the Yocto Project and system-level software for low-latency, networked audio.

What you’ll do

  • Design, build, and maintain Pascal’s Linux distributions using Yocto Project / OpenEmbedded and BitBake (BSPs, layers, recipes, SDKs).

  • Board bring-up and driver integration (Device Tree, kernel config, U-Boot, I²C/SPI/UART, I²S/SAI, GPIO, PWM).

  • Implement and tune audio pipelines and services (ALSA, PipeWire/GStreamer) for reliable low-latency performance.

  • Networked audio & timing: PTP/IEEE-1588, TSN, RTP/RTSP, QoS/DSCP— targeting AES67 audio transport and AVB-Milan .OTA and field updates (e.g., Rauc/SWUpdate), secure-boot chain, disk-encryption, image signing, and robust rollback (e.g., A/B, dm-verity).

  • Production & test: image builds for manufacturing, provisioning, device identity, logging/telemetry, and fault reporting.

  • Collaborate across embedded, DSP, cloud, and frontend teams to deliver end-to-end configuration, monitoring, and diagnostics.

  • Contribute to architecture, documentation, code reviews, and CI/CD.

Who you are

You are an Embedded Linux engineer who enjoys taking ownership, working close to the product, and collaborating with others to build systems that simply work - and keep working. You have:

  • 4+ years of Embedded Linux on production hardware.

  • Strong hands-on Yocto Project/OpenEmbedded experience (writing/maintaining layers, recipes, and BSPs).

  • Practical knowledge of Linux kernel fundamentals, Device Tree, U-Boot, and the driver integration.

  • Proficiency in C/C++ (system-level) and scripting (Python/Bash).

  • Understanding of real-time/low-latency audio, buffering, synchronization, and performance profiling.

  • Solid networking fundamentals TCP/UDP, mDNS/Bonjour, DHCP, VLAN, QoS); familiarity with PTPv2 and TSN is a plus.

  • Quality mindset: devices must be updatable, observable, and diagnosable in the field.

  • Strong written and spoken English (Danish is a plus).

Bonus skills (nice to have)

  • Experience with AES67/AVB-Milan, and Dante.

  • Experience with Rust

  • Familiarity with TI AM62Ax, NXP i.MX, or similar SoCs, and companion MCUs.

  • Audio DSP fundamentals (filter design, SRC, dynamics/limiting, FFT/CMSIS-DSP or similar; fixed- vs. floating-point optimization and profiling).

  • Device security: secure elements (non-TPM), measured/verified boot,  dm-verity, image signing, and key management.

  • Test frameworks, static analysis, sanitizers; experience wiring tests into CI.

  • Metrics/logging to cloud backends.

What’s in it for you

At Pascal you’ll get more than “just” a job, you will:

  • Own a core platform that ships in professional audio systems worldwide, trusted by some of the industry’s most renowned brands.

  • Meet short decision paths, close collaboration with hardware and DSP, and real influence on direction.

  • Enjoy flexible ways of working, surrounded by talented colleagues in an informal setting where we hold each other to high standards and help each other reach them

  • Experience a Scandinavian approach to work: healthy work–life balance, trust in your abilities, and the freedom to do your best work in the way that works best for you

  • Join a culture built on care, creativity, collaboration, and a shared passion for sound - where diverse perspectives help us create something truly special.
