Job Description

Freshape is an innovation-driven company designing and engineering the next generation of sustainable technologies. Within our Natural Interaction division, we are developing consumer hardware products that rethink how people interact with technology, making it more human, more present, and less intrusive.

We are looking for a highly motivated Electronics Engineer to join our team in our brand-new offices in Renens, in the Lausanne area. You will work on a flagship consumer hardware product currently in active development, designing, prototyping, and validating compact electronic systems that integrate optoelectronics, image sensors, microcontrollers, wireless communication, and power-management modules.

This position is 100% on site.

YOUR MISSION

• Design, prototype, and bring to life the electronics of a highly miniaturized, battery-powered consumer device that pushes the limits of what can be integrated into an extremely compact form factor — rigid, flex and rigid-flex PCBs integrating optoelectronics, sensors, actuators, microcontrollers, wireless communication and power-management modules, in close integration with mechanical and embedded subsystems

• Own board bring-up, debugging and iterative validation of prototypes, from schematic through layout to a working board

• Drive low-power and power-integrity design: battery, PMIC/charging, fuel-gauge, peak-current budgeting and brown-out behaviour for small-cell, high-burst loads

• Qualify PCBA prototypes against system requirements, evaluate, select and test electronic components

• Develop and continuously improve hardware validation, testing and quality assurance processes from prototype to production.

• Prepare and maintain technical documentation to support product development and manufacturing.

• Collaborate closely with other R&D members, including embedded system, firmware, and optomechanical engineers. Contribute to system specifications to optimize lead times, development, and cost.

• Manage certification follow-up with external laboratories and regulatory bodies, from pre-compliance testing through final product approval.

• Support product industrialization through close collaboration with manufacturing partners, ensuring manufacturability, assembly robustness and production readiness.

• Participate in electronics design reviews.

• Research and scout new technical solutions for current and/or next versions of product.

YOUR PROFILE

• Bachelor's (HES/FH) or Master's degree in Electronics Engineering, Embedded Systems Engineering, or a related field

• 3+ years of hands-on experience developing consumer electronic products

• Demonstrated experience in some of the fields : digital and analogue hardware development for battery operated devices, including sensors, optoelectronics, actuators, microcontrollers, wireless communication and power supply

• Solid low-power / power-management design experience: battery, PMIC/charging, fuel-gauge and current-budget optimization

• Experience with PCB design software, preferably Altium Designer

• Ability to perform PCB rework, component replacement and hardware modifications during debugging and validation

• Knowledge of PCB manufacturing constraints (multi-layer, flex, HDI) and standards

• Ability to take responsibility for tasks and problems, provide solutions, anticipate risks and understand their impact on other hardware/software components

• Excellent problem solving and communication skills

• Fluent in English

WHY SHOULD YOU APPLY (NOW)?

• Purpose & Impact: Join a creative, international team working on meaningful projects that combine sustainability, design, and cutting-edge technology. Your ideas will directly shape future products with real environmental impact.

• Innovation & Collaboration: Work closely with R&D in a multidisciplinary environment. Our modern offices and laboratories in Renens and Ecublens (Lausanne area) are designed to foster creativity and collaboration.

• Growth & Recognition: Take ownership and grow with us — most of our managers were promoted internally. We value initiative, reward creativity, and offer fast internal development opportunities.

• Work-Life Balance & Benefits: Enjoy 25 days of paid vacation annually, and full reimbursement of public transport costs within the Lausanne area, supporting both your well-being and green mobility.

Are you excited to make an impact in our R&D departments? If you have experience in product development, a strong aptitude for data management, documentation, research, and compliance, and are ready to take on a key role, we’d love to hear from you!
