Electronics Engineer – Embedded Systems & PCB (Medical Device Project)


Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Electronics Engineer with strong expertise in embedded systems , Microchip PIC microcontrollers , and Altium Designer to support updates to an existing medical‑grade electronic device. This role involves both firmware and hardware modifications, along with documentation aligned to medical device development standards.


Key Responsibilities
  • Embedded Firmware Development — Update and maintain firmware for a PIC18LF46K22 microcontroller, including migration from legacy Microchip C18 (v3.43) and MPLAB IDE 8.87 to the latest MPLAB X IDE and XC8 compiler.
  • PCB Design & Revision — Implement minor hardware updates to an existing PCB using Altium Designer, including component changes and layout adjustments.
  • Alarm System Modification — Modify embedded software to update audible alarm pulsation patterns.
  • Buzzer Hardware Redesign — Replace a piezoelectric buzzer with a magnetic buzzer and associated driving circuitry.
  • LED Hardware Updates — Implement minor PCB modifications to support updated LED color requirements.
  • Documentation to Medical Standards — Produce and maintain engineering documentation, design change records, and verification notes consistent with medical device quality systems (e.g., IEC 60601, ISO 13485).


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering , Electronics Engineering , or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience with Microchip PIC microcontroller development.
  • Proficiency with MPLAB X IDE , XC8 , and legacy Microchip toolchains.
  • Strong PCB design experience using Altium Designer .
  • Demonstrated ability to create and maintain medical device–grade documentation .
  • Experience with mixed‑signal circuit design, low‑power embedded systems, and alarm/buzzer circuitry.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working under FDA Class II or similar regulated environments.
  • Familiarity with IEC 60601 , ISO 14971 , or ISO 13485 processes.
  • Prior work updating or maintaining legacy embedded systems.
