We are currently searching for an Electrical Engineer – FPGA Design to support our client in Tucson, AZ . This is a full-time, direct-hire opportunity that requires on-site work.


Employment Type: Full-Time

Compensation: Open to Negotiation DOE


An Active U.S. Government Secret Security Clearance (or higher) is required.


Position Summary

The Electrical Engineer – FPGA Design will support the design, development, verification, and integration of FPGA solutions for advanced digital products. This position will work throughout the FPGA development lifecycle, from requirements and architecture through implementation, verification, integration, and production release.


Responsibilities: Develop and verify VHDL FPGA designs for Xilinx, Altera, and Microsemi devices.

  • Translate system-level requirements into FPGA architectures, interfaces, requirements, and Concepts of Operation (CONOPS).
  • Perform FPGA partitioning, coding, simulation, synthesis, place-and-route, and timing closure.
  • Develop and execute directed and constrained-random verification to validate FPGA functionality.
  • Support high-speed serial interfaces, RF/EO DSP, embedded processing, processor interfaces, controls, and data links.
  • Create requirements documentation, verification plans, user guides, and configuration-controlled design documentation.
  • Support technical design reviews, system integration, troubleshooting, and production releases.
  • Collaborate with systems engineers, hardware designers, and cross-functional engineering teams throughout the development lifecycle.


Requirements: Active U.S. Government Secret Security Clearance (or higher).

  • Experience developing or verifying FPGA designs.
  • Strong VHDL design experience.
  • Experience with FPGA simulation, synthesis, place-and-route, timing closure, and verification.
  • Experience with directed and/or constrained-random verification methodologies.
  • Experience working with systems engineers and circuit card designers.
  • Ability to support projects while meeting technical, schedule, and budget objectives.


Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Xilinx, Altera (Intel), and/or Microsemi FPGA devices.

  • Experience with RF, DSP, EO, high-speed serial interfaces, embedded processing, or data link applications.
  • Experience with coverage-driven verification methodologies.
  • Experience with FPGA requirements development, configuration management, and controlled releases.
  • Experience supporting aerospace, defense, or other complex digital hardware programs.
