About the Role

Boeing Commercial Airplanes is seeking an experienced Airplane Electronic Engineer (Lead or Subject Matter Expert) to join the 787 Electronic Systems team. In this leadership role, you will support the development, integration, testing, and continuous improvement of avionics, integrated modular avionics, network systems, and electrical subsystems. You will collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams, suppliers, and customers to ensure high-quality, reliable electronic systems throughout the aircraft lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and documentation of complex aircraft electronic and electrical system requirements.
  • Translate system requirements into hardware, software, and system architecture designs.
  • Lead system integration, testing, validation, and qualification activities.
  • Ensure electronic systems meet operational, regulatory, and customer requirements.
  • Support production, product improvements, system upgrades, and in-service fleet operations.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to ensure component quality and compliance.
  • Resolve complex engineering issues across the product lifecycle.
  • Research emerging technologies and recommend innovative engineering solutions.
  • Mentor engineering teams and provide technical leadership on critical projects.
  • Support design reviews, risk assessments, and continuous process improvements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or a related technical discipline.
  • 14+ years of relevant engineering experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong background in aircraft electronic systems, avionics, or electrical engineering.
  • Experience with system architecture, integration, verification, and validation.
  • Knowledge of aerospace engineering standards and certification processes.
  • Preferred experience with:
  • DO-254 Airborne Electronic Hardware Development
  • DO-178 Airborne Software Development
  • DO-297 Integrated Modular Avionics
  • ARP-4754 Systems Development
  • Excellent analytical, leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
