Job Title: Test Lead – DO-178B (Embedded Systems)

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Test Lead – DO-178B to drive testing strategy and execution for safety-critical embedded software systems. In this role, you will lead QA efforts, ensure compliance with aerospace standards, and oversee test planning, automation, and delivery. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and clients to ensure high-quality, reliable software that meets stringent certification standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with clients and internal teams to understand functional and design specifications, identify gaps, and define test strategies.
• Lead the development, execution, and maintenance of automated and manual test cases aligned with DO-178B standards.
• Design and implement scalable test automation frameworks to support evolving system requirements.
• Develop detailed test plans, schedules, and risk mitigation strategies to ensure timely delivery.
• Monitor progress, track defects, and provide regular status reporting to stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with DO-178B (and DO-178C where applicable) for avionics software verification.
• Maintain and manage test environments, data, and traceability artifacts.
• Mentor and guide QA engineers, improving team capability and productivity.
• Drive continuous improvement in testing processes, tools, and quality standards.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience with DO-178B in embedded software testing environments
• Proficiency in functional testing methodologies and QA best practices
• Experience with test automation frameworks and scripting (C++)
• Solid understanding of test planning, execution, defect management, and risk mitigation
• Ability to interpret software requirements and ensure traceability across the lifecycle

Nice-to-Have Skills

• DO-178C experience
• Aerospace HW-SW integration testing (embedded systems)
• RTRT (Rational Test RealTime) or similar tools
• Experience in avionics certification processes

Education & Certifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field
• ISTQB Certification or equivalent (preferred)

ITAR / Compliance Requirement

This position requires compliance with U.S. export control laws. Due to the nature of the work and applicable regulations, only U.S. Citizens or lawful permanent residents (Green Card holders) are eligible to be considered for this role.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range Minimum: $ 35/hour

Pay Range Maximum: $ 60/hour

A candidate’s pay within the range will depend on their skills, experience, education, and other factors permitted by law. This role may also be eligible for performance-based bonuses subject to company policies.
