Role Summary

We are looking for an Embedded Security Software Engineer with 2–8 years of experience to work on security software development for Synaptics chipsets. The role will involve development, support, and porting of WPA Supplicant and secure boot components in RTOS and Zephyr-based embedded environments.

The ideal candidate should have strong embedded software development skills, good understanding of WLAN security protocols, and exposure to chipset security, bootloader, or secure boot flows. Knowledge of Bluetooth security or security protocols from other domains is also valuable. Exposure to CRA, post-quantum cryptography, or modern security compliance requirements will be considered a plus.

Key Responsibilities

Develop, support, and port WPA Supplicant functionality for embedded platforms.

Work on WPA Supplicant integration in RTOS and Zephyr environments.

Develop, enhance, and maintain secure boot and bootloader security features for Synaptics chipsets.

Debug and resolve security, connectivity, and platform integration issues in embedded systems.

Work closely with firmware, driver, platform, and validation teams to bring up security features on new chipsets.

Analyze and implement security protocol requirements for WLAN and related connectivity domains.

Support security feature development across different product lines and embedded platforms.

Participate in design discussions, code reviews, debugging, and technical documentation.

Required Skills

2–5 years of experience in embedded software development.

Strong programming experience in C.

Experience working in RTOS-based embedded environments.

Knowledge of Zephyr OS is preferred.

Experience with WPA Supplicant support, integration, or porting.

Understanding of WLAN security protocols such as WPA, WPA2, WPA3, 802.1X, EAP, SAE, and related authentication mechanisms.

Good understanding of embedded system bring-up, debugging, and platform integration.

Knowledge of bootloader concepts and secure boot flows.

Familiarity with chipset-level security concepts such as authentication, encryption, key management, and secure firmware loading.

Experience using debugging tools such as JTAG, GDB, logic analyzers, or platform-specific debug tools.

Good to Have

Knowledge of Bluetooth security protocols or security protocols in any other connectivity domain.

Exposure to cryptographic algorithms and security libraries.

Understanding of certificate handling, TLS, key provisioning, or secure storage.

Knowledge of CRA, cybersecurity compliance, or product security requirements.

Exposure to post-quantum cryptography concepts.

Experience with new chipset bring-up and firmware security enablement.

Experience with Wi-Fi driver, supplicant, host interface, or firmware integration.

Educational Qualification

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Embedded Systems, or a related field.
