The Leidos digital modernization NISC IV team is looking to hire a skilled Hardware Engineer to support engineering, integration, and sustainment of critical systems supporting Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) programs.
The Hardware Engineer will provide the Long Range Radar System Support team support with designing, developing, testing, and maintaining hardware systems and components to ensure performance, reliability, and compliance with operational requirements. You will also be involved in system integration efforts, troubleshooting hardware-related issues, and working with cross-functional teams to support system design, validation, and deployment activities.
To be successful in this role, you will need strong knowledge of hardware engineering principles, system integration, and lifecycle management, along with the ability to work across multiple technical domains.
Ability to obtain a Public Trust Security Clearance Suitability and be able to obtain a Secret Clearance.
NOTE: This is an onsite at the MMAC position. No Telework available.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and support hardware systems and components, including circuit boards, processors, and embedded systems.
- Perform hardware integration, testing, and validation to ensure systems meet performance and reliability requirements.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware issues across development, test, and production environments.
- Collaborate with software engineers, system engineers, and program stakeholders to ensure seamless hardware/software integration.
- Develop and execute test plans, procedures, and documentation for system validation and verification.
- Analyze system requirements and translate them into hardware specifications and design solutions.
- Support configuration management, system upgrades, and lifecycle sustainment activities.
- Provide technical input to system architecture, design reviews, and engineering discussions.
- Ensure compliance with applicable FAA, industry, and safety standards.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, including design documents, test reports, and user guides.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Hardware Engineering or a related technical field and a minimum of 4–8 years of prior relevant experience. Additional years of experience or education may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Experience designing, integrating, and testing hardware systems or components.
- Experience troubleshooting hardware and system-level issues and performing root cause analysis.
- Working knowledge of embedded systems, circuit design, or related hardware components.
- Experience developing and executing test procedures and validating system performance.
- Ability to interpret technical requirements and translate them into effective engineering solutions.
- Experience working in a collaborative, multi-disciplined engineering environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Experience creating and maintaining technical documentation and supporting configuration management processes.
- Understanding of the hardware development lifecycle, including design, integration, testing, and sustainment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting FAA or other federal government programs.
- Experience with systems integration in operational or mission-critical environments.
- Familiarity with industry standards (IEEE, IPC, MIL-STD, etc.).
- Experience with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and signal generators.
- Experience with hardware simulation or design tools.
- Knowledge of networking fundamentals and hardware interfaces.
- Experience working in Agile or hybrid engineering environments.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity considerations for hardware systems.
- Experience supporting fielded systems, sustainment, or modernization efforts.
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.

Pay Range:
Pay Range $107,900.00 - $195,050.00
