Job Description:
The Senior Hardware Engineer will lead the design, development, validation, and production of advanced hardware systems and components. This role requires deep technical expertise combined with ownership of end-to-end hardware development, from concept through production. The individual will collaborate across cross-functional teams, mentor junior engineers, and drive design excellence while ensuring compliance with global standards and product requirements.
The role demands strong problem-solving capabilities, system-level thinking, and the ability to lead complex technical initiatives, including architecture decisions, design trade-offs, and risk mitigation.
Key Responsibilities:
-
Lead the design and development of complex hardware systems and sub-systems aligned with product requirements and platform strategies.
-
Define hardware architecture, conduct feasibility studies, simulations, and design reviews to ensure optimal performance, cost, and reliability.
-
Drive collaboration with firmware, software, mechanical, and system engineering teams to ensure seamless product integration.
-
Own hardware validation, testing, and debugging activities, including root cause analysis and resolution of critical issues.
-
Establish and review technical documentation such as design specifications, schematics, BOMs, test plans, and compliance reports.
-
Guide junior engineers through design, review, and troubleshooting activities; provide technical mentorship.
-
Work closely with manufacturing, sourcing, and supplier teams to transition designs into production with high yield and quality.
-
Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., UL, IEC, CE, BIS, EMC/EMI).
-
Drive design optimization for cost, performance, power, and reliability.
-
Participate in failure analysis, field issue resolution, and continuous improvement initiatives.
-
Stay updated with emerging technologies and lead innovation initiatives within the hardware domain.
Skills and Tools Required:
-
Advanced proficiency in PCB design tools such as Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro, or equivalent.
-
Strong expertise in digital and analog circuit design, including power electronics and embedded systems.
-
Deep understanding of high-speed interfaces and communication protocols (I2C, SPI, UART, USB, Ethernet, etc.).
-
Experience in signal integrity (SI), power integrity (PI), and EMI/EMC design considerations.
-
Hands-on debugging skills using lab equipment (oscilloscope, logic analyzer, spectrum analyzer, etc.).
-
Experience with version control systems (Git) and design lifecycle management.
-
Knowledge of DFx principles (DFM, DFT, DFA) and hardware reliability engineering.
-
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
-
Excellent communication and leadership skills for cross-functional collaboration.
Educational Requirements:
-
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or Computer Engineering.
-
Relevant certifications in hardware design, embedded systems, or compliance standards are an added advantage.
Experience:
-
6–9+ years of experience in hardware engineering or related fields.
-
Proven experience in leading hardware design projects from concept to production.
