Sr. Firmware Engineer – On‑site, Permanent

Location: Paarl, Western Cape, South Africa

Education: M.Eng or B.Eng Electronics

Experience: Minimum 6 - 10 years

Company Overview Azoteq is a leading fabless semiconductor company based in Paarl, Western Cape. We are seeking a talented Firmware Engineer to join our innovative team and contribute to cutting‑edge embedded systems development.

Key Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in PCB design and embedded microcontroller code development (C/C++).
• Hands‑on experience with platforms such as Microchip PIC, STM8, STM32, Dialog, Silabs.
• Strong knowledge of low‑voltage and low‑power systems.
• Python scripting skills.
• Advantageous experience: BLE (Dialog/Silabs subsystems), BLE GATT, OTA updates, mobile applications, bootloaders, IoT, GUI/UI design.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement embedded software applications (C/C++).
• Write Python scripts for automation and testing.
• Define software architecture and application interfaces.
• Prototype components, design PCBs, and create embedded programming solutions.
• Design low‑power hardware solutions and BLE firmware applications.
• Perform schematic capture and PCB layout reviews (Altium Designer).
• Debug and design embedded electronic hardware and firmware.
• Integrate and test complete systems.
• Maintain QMS systems for assigned projects.

Nice to Have

• RF experience, CI/CD for firmware releases, board bring‑up, reusable module design.
• Experience with Garmin, ESP32 screen development.
• Toolchain knowledge (FMD, WCH, STM32, APT, HopeRF, Nordic).
• VS Code toolchain integration.
