Supported by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), the Department of Health Research (DHR), and IIT Delhi, the center offers robust resources for product development and translation. mPragati focuses on new product development, ISO-grade manufacturing, testing, and certification of medical devices. It supports innovators across the full lifecycle, from concept and design to prototyping, testing, and regulatory compliance, and also offers training and skill development programs. The center actively collaborates with start-ups, industry, academia, and clinicians to advance MedTech solutions that improve health outcomes.
Role Description The Sr Engineer/Engineer Embedded Hardware will design, develop, and validate embedded hardware systems for MedTech devices in collaboration with cross-functional teams. This is a full-time on-site role based in New Delhi at IIT Delhi, requiring close coordination with researchers, clinicians, and product development teams. Day-to-day responsibilities include schematic design, PCB layout review, component selection, hardware bring-up, and integration with embedded software and IoT platforms. The role involves creating test plans, conducting hardware testing and debugging, ensuring compliance with relevant medical device and safety standards, and preparing technical documentation. The engineer will also support prototyping, design reviews, vendor interactions, and continuous improvement of existing designs to enhance reliability, manufacturability, and performance.
Qualifications
  • Strong foundation in embedded systems, including Embedded Software Programming and Embedded Software, with hands-on experience interfacing hardware and firmware.
  • Proficiency in Software Development for embedded platforms, including version control practices and collaborative development workflows.
  • Demonstrated ability in Debugging embedded hardware and software, using tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and in-circuit debuggers.
  • Exposure to Internet of Things (IoT) concepts and architectures, including connectivity, sensors, and integration with cloud or edge platforms.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics, Electrical, Instrumentation, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience with schematic capture and PCB design tools, and understanding of EMI/EMC, safety, and reliability considerations.
  • Familiarity with medical device development processes, standards (e.g., IEC 60601), or regulated product development is an advantage.
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team, manage multiple projects, and communicate technical information clearly in written and verbal form.
