About the Role

ChipWave is looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer – Embedded WLAN Security with strong expertise in WPA Supplicant development, integration, and embedded Wi-Fi security .

In this role, you will lead the design, development, and optimization of WPA Supplicant for RTOS-based embedded platforms. You will work closely with firmware, driver, platform, and validation teams to build secure, high-performance wireless connectivity solutions for next-generation embedded chipsets.

This position is ideal for engineers who enjoy solving complex system-level challenges, defining software architecture, and owning features from concept through production.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, customize, and maintain WPA Supplicant for embedded RTOS platforms.
  • Architect and integrate WPA Supplicant with Wi-Fi drivers, firmware, RTOS services, and platform components.
  • Analyze product requirements and translate them into scalable software architecture and detailed technical designs.
  • Implement and optimize WLAN security protocols including WPA, WPA2, WPA3, IEEE 802.1X, EAP, and SAE .
  • Lead supplicant integration, customization, optimization, and performance tuning for resource-constrained embedded systems.
  • Debug complex security, authentication, roaming, connectivity, and platform integration issues.
  • Collaborate with firmware, driver, platform, system, and validation teams during new chipset bring-up and feature enablement.
  • Participate in architecture reviews, code reviews, technical discussions, and software quality initiatives.
  • Develop high-level and low-level design documents, architecture diagrams, interface specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Drive continuous improvements in software quality, scalability, maintainability, and performance.
Required Qualifications
  • 4–8 years of experience in Embedded Software Development.
  • Strong programming expertise in C .
  • Hands-on experience with WPA Supplicant development, customization, integration, or porting.
  • Strong understanding of RTOS concepts , including:
  • Task Scheduling
  • Memory Management
  • Synchronization
  • Timers
  • Queues
  • Inter-task Communication
  • Experience working in embedded RTOS environments; knowledge of Zephyr OS is an advantage.
  • In-depth understanding of WLAN security protocols including:
  • WPA / WPA2 / WPA3
  • IEEE 802.1X
  • EAP
  • SAE
  • PMK / PTK / GTK
  • Authentication and Key Management
  • Strong understanding of Wi-Fi connection flows including scanning, association, authentication, roaming, and disconnection.
  • Experience integrating WPA Supplicant with Wi-Fi drivers, firmware, host interface layers, and platform abstraction layers.
  • Strong debugging expertise using JTAG, GDB, RTOS traces, protocol analyzers, firmware logs, and logic analyzers .
  • Ability to independently own features from requirement analysis through design, implementation, debugging, validation, and production release.

Educational Qualification

Bachelor's or Master's Degree in:

  • Or an equivalent engineering discipline
