Job Description

As a PCB Design Engineer, you will own the design of our electronics: power distribution boards, motor controller interface boards, sensor boards, and the ruggedised hardware that ties a robot together. You will take designs from schematic through layout, fabrication, bring-up, and field iteration.

If you have carried boards from a blank schematic all the way to field-proven hardware, and you understand how PCBs fail under real-world abuse, this role is built for you.

Day-to-Day Activities

  • Own schematic capture and multi-layer PCB layout for electronic subsystems
  • Design power distribution, motor controller interface, and sensor interface boards
  • Design for EMI/EMC, signal integrity, power integrity, and thermal performance
  • Select components, manage BOMs, and work with supply chain on availability and lifecycle
  • Design for ruggedisation: shock, vibration, conformal coating, and connector reliability
  • Coordinate fabrication and assembly with vendors and review for DFM/DFT
  • Lead board bring-up, testing, and debugging on the bench
  • Maintain design documentation and revision control
  • Investigate field failures and drive design iterations to close them out

Requirements and Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional PCB design experience
  • Degree in Electronics, Electrical, or ECE Engineering
  • Mastery of an EDA tool, Altium preferred (KiCad or equivalent also considered)
  • Proven experience with multi-layer, high-speed, and power PCB design
  • Strong understanding of EMI/EMC, signal integrity, and grounding practices
  • Experience with component selection, BOM management, and IPC standards
  • Hands-on lab and debugging skills with oscilloscopes and logic analysers
  • Track record of taking boards from design through to working, deployed hardware

Preferred Skills (Good to Have)

  • Experience with power electronics or high-current / motor-drive board design
  • Exposure to automotive or industrial hardware qualification (vibration, thermal cycling)
  • Experience with flex and rigid-flex PCB designs
  • Familiarity with robotics or EV electronics
