About Syenta
Syenta is pioneering a new era in semiconductor manufacturing with our groundbreaking Localised Electrochemical Manufacturing (LEM) technology. Our platform enables advanced packaging by combining patterning and metallisation into a single tool. We achieve high-speed, high-resolution metallisation at lower costs and energy use, while minimizing emissions and waste.
Founded in Australia, we are building a world-class team of engineers and scientists tackling some of the toughest challenges in semiconductor manufacturing. Our collaborative, people-first culture empowers individuals to take ownership, innovate, and deliver breakthrough results.
About The Role
We are seeking a
Senior Manufacturing Engineer - PCB & Electronics
to ensure Syenta’s electronic assemblies are designed and manufactured for real-world production. This role bridges the gap between engineering design and factory execution, driving manufacturability, process capability, and supplier engagement.
You will own the design-for-manufacture (DFM) process for all PCB and electronic assemblies, support NPI cycles through to stable production, and collaborate across engineering, operations, and supplier teams. This is a high-impact role critical to scaling production while maintaining quality, yield, and efficiency.
Responsibilities
Manufacturing Process & DFM Ownership
-
Own the DFM process for all PCB and electronic assemblies, reviewing layouts, BOMs, and fabrication notes before release
-
Define and document manufacturing processes, work instructions, and quality control checkpoints
-
Lead New Product Introduction (NPI) transitions from engineering builds to production, ensuring yield, cycle time, and quality targets are met
-
Drive continuous improvement using data from AOI, X-ray, ICT, and functional test outputs
-
Collaborate with EE, mechanical, and cross-functional teams to translate field failures into design and process improvements
Supplier & Factory Engagement
-
Manage technical relationships with PCB fabricators, EMS partners, and component suppliers
-
Define acceptance criteria, audit processes, and supplier qualification frameworks
-
Provide actionable, data-driven feedback to suppliers and internal teams to optimise yield and manufacturability
Process Capability & Quality
-
Ensure deep understanding of PCB fabrication constraints, SMT assembly processes, and component handling
-
Support test strategy development for ICT, flying probe, and functional testing
-
Implement IPC standards (IPC-A-610, IPC-7711, IPC-2221) in production and NPI activities
Requirements
-
8+ years in electronics or PCB manufacturing engineering, with direct factory floor experience
-
Deep familiarity with SMT processes: stencil printing, reflow, selective soldering, rework, and inspection (AOI, AXI, SPI)
-
Strong understanding of PCB fabrication constraints: stackups, impedance control, finish options, tolerances
-
Experience running or supporting NPI cycles through to stable production
-
Proficiency with IPC standards (IPC-A-610, IPC-7711, IPC-2221)
-
Experience working with contract manufacturers and offshore supply chains
-
Hands-on experience with test strategy development (ICT, flying probe, functional test)
-
Excellent communication skills, able to interface effectively from technicians to executives
Preferred Qualifications
-
Experience with EDA/Layout tools: Altium Designer, KiCad, Cadence Allegro
-
Familiarity with AOI/AXI/SPI equipment (Koh Young, Saki, Omron, or equivalent)
-
Experience with ICT platforms (Keysight, Teradyne) and SPC/quality tools (Camtastic, GerbView)
