About the Role

Things Alive is looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Lead – Embedded Firmware, AI & IoT to lead the design, development, and deployment of next-generation connected products and intelligent edge devices. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in embedded firmware development, IoT architectures, AI at the edge, cloud integration, and team leadership.

This role requires hands-on technical expertise along with the ability to mentor engineering teams, define product architecture, and drive innovation across automotive, industrial IoT, and smart connected solutions.

Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Leadership

• Lead embedded firmware and IoT product development projects from concept to deployment.
• Define system architecture and technology roadmap for AI-enabled IoT solutions.
• Review design documents, code quality, and engineering standards.
• Mentor and guide embedded, firmware, and IoT engineers.
• Collaborate with hardware, cloud, AI, and product management teams.

Embedded Firmware Development

• Design and develop embedded firmware using C/C++ for MCU and MPU platforms.
• Develop and optimize RTOS-based applications (FreeRTOS, Zephyr, etc.).
• Implement device drivers and communication stacks.
• Perform debugging, performance tuning, and reliability improvements.
• Support hardware bring-up and board validation activities.

AI & Edge Intelligence

• Integrate AI/ML models into embedded systems.
• Develop edge analytics solutions for predictive maintenance and anomaly detection.
• Optimize AI models for low-power and resource-constrained devices.
• Work with TinyML and edge AI frameworks.

IoT & Cloud Connectivity

• Develop secure IoT solutions using MQTT, HTTP, HTTPS, BLE, Wi-Fi, LoRaWAN, and Cellular technologies.
• Integrate devices with AWS IoT, Azure IoT, or custom cloud platforms.
• Implement OTA firmware upgrade mechanisms.
• Design remote monitoring and diagnostics solutions.

Product Development & Deployment

• Work closely with customers to understand technical requirements.
• Support prototype development and production deployment.
• Participate in customer demonstrations and technical discussions.
• Ensure timely delivery of projects with high quality standards.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics, Embedded Systems, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• 8–15 years of experience in embedded firmware and IoT product development.
• Proven experience leading engineering teams and managing product development lifecycles.
• Experience in Automotive, Industrial IoT, Telematics, or Smart Manufacturing projects is preferred.
